He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in 2019 and began working as a Charge Nurse at an inpatient substance abuse and mental health unit. Recognizing the need for more advanced knowledge and training, he went on to earn his Master of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University and a Post-Master's certificate to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from Shenandoah University. Javier tries to maintain safe prescribing virtually; therefore, he does not prescribe controlled medications such as Adderall, Alprazolam, Lorazepam, Clonazepam, etc.
Currently, Javier is pursuing his Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Duke University, underscoring his commitment to ongoing professional development and education. With a niche in mood disorders, he understands the complexities of bipolar disorder and the challenges it presents to individuals. Javier strives to help his patients stabilize their racing thoughts and mood changes, enabling them to focus on their true feelings in every given moment. Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

So I've been skeptical about using zocdoc for a psychiatric nurse practitioner. But I gave it a shot and met Mr Way .. he is excellent. Top notch provider I would recommend a thousand time. And a provider I hope to handle the rest of my psych care for as long as possible.

I signed on for the appointment as I have done many times with the same doctor. It showed that he was online and would be with me shortly and it never happened.
Noted on there that they were allowed a 10 minute grace. And I signed off at 20 minutes after when I got no response other than to please go nowhere he would be with me shortly in short the meeting did not happen.

Dr. Javier was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and a great listener. He really took his time to get to know me personally before diving into any diagnoses or assumptions. After we went through everything, he offered a variety of treatment options, and we decided together which one was best for me. I really, really appreciate him as a provider because you call tell he cares about his patients and wants what is best for them. I would highly recommend him!
