Since 1978, Dr. Jay Handt has been on a mission to educate and empower people to understand the innate healing power of their own bodies. A graduate of Northeast College of Health Sciences with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree and holding a Bachelor’s from City University of New York, York College, he believes that a properly functioning nervous system, free from interference, is not just a way to reduce pain and discomfort but the key to optimal health and peak performance.
Dr. Handt’s passion for helping others has made him a cornerstone of the Upper West Side community. I actually say Dr. Josh Handt and 10/10 recommend. EXCELLENT bedside manners. Great listener did not cut me off once, was very thorough and made me feel like I finally had a doctor who cared about the pain I had and would do his best to help. Not prescribe and pill and tell me come back in a week. Front desk receptionist are also amazing. Very friendly and warm. Definitely recommend and have already told my friends and family to check out this office.

The doctors at this practice are amazing. However, their receptionist is rude and moody. Their billing management is beyond horrible. Despite having updated my information with them several times, they kept on sending bills to a 6 year old address. They sent insurance claims to the wrong address and now they want to settle bills from 2016! Unacceptable. I am not going back ever again.

Dr. Handt seems to genuinely care about his patients. I feel that he is knowledgeable and that I will be in good hands. He was very open to answering any question I may have regarding my condition and treatment plan. Heck, he even gave me his personal cell number so I can call him whenever I want! Who does that? I am looking forward to beginning treatment and hopeful that after 2 years of pain I will be on my way to recovery.

Though the appointment I booked in the mid of last week, I only received a call today, when was on my way to see doctor, tht I have to sign into their site and fill out more forms, because they haven't received the ones I fille in with ZocDoc... Upon arrival I had 25 minutes of my 30min appointment spent on filling online forms...being hurried by the receptionist, who also asked about my nationality (like it had to do with the osteopathy..) and other not so propriate questions regarding my physical looks...(postpartum belly)..
After 22 minutes struggle with the iPad sigh in 3(!!) forms, where all the same questions are asked in 3 different ways...I was asked again for the 4th time to read and sign the paper form...all in all very disappointing.
My visit was less then 10 minutes of treatment total, and doctor asked same questions I had 30 min of pleasance filling into their forms :(((
Mr.Handt 37 years in practice and certainly knows his job also he is very polite and attentive..wish could be same at the reception.
Was asked to schedule follow up appointment...but the receptionist didn't specify what date (because if today is Thirsday, then Friday of this week would be too early for next adjustment and Friday next week- to far for me to remember..) nor that she provided me with the time reminder card for that :( receptionist was loud and very familiar with the other clients, from what I observed, same with me.

The team at Jay Handt's office was very nice. I am sure they are great at what they do, but was a bit turned off by the atmosphere. There was seemingly endless "anti-vax" and "anti-traditional medicine" signage throughout the office, which made me quite uncomfortable and question the creditability of the office. Perhaps this is typical of a chiropractor, but I was certainly not prepared for it. This is absolutely a personal opinion, but I don't feel that should be thrust onto your patients so aggressively.
Additionally, there was so much paperwork and so many forms to fill out about my pain, that I felt it was taking the place of a real patient/doctor conversation. I was hardly asked about my pain and (im)mobility and I am not even sure that the forms I filled out were referenced. I know he is highly rated here, but this office is not for me.

Best medical staff I have ever met. From the moment I walked in I felt like I was being cared for. I had forgotten to do the online medical questions(typical of me), no attitude by staff. Leslie at the front desk walked me through the whole process, she is a beauty.
Thorough examination, state of the art equipment/technology, well informed as to my particular situation, great bedside manner. I just want to move in with these people.
After my examination, spoke with present patients, they validated everything I felt and thought.

So it was my first visit. Wont be my last. Loved everything about his practice from the moment I walked in the door. Starting with a great and friendly staff. Treated by Handt and it was very thorough … from history…to x-rays to stress, range of motion tests to adjustment.

Fantastic, couldn't ask for better chiropractic care. Dr. Handt has not only fixed issues with my back but also shown me the value of regular adjustments. Very professional, knowledgeable and also as nice as can be. I look forward to my visits and how much better I feel afterwards. Over 25 years with Dr. Handt and I wouldn't change for anything.

NY Chiropractic Life Center & Dr. Handt have majorly improved my health & quality of life... After only 6 visits I have no more headaches, increased mobility, no more pain. I also have peace of mind and can now sleep well. I plan on making chiropractic a lifestyle, I don't think I have felt this well in years. Dr. Handt & everyone at the office are caring, sweet, helpful & informative. It is a very healing & welcoming environment which is so condusive to a happy & long life.
