Getting to know Jazmine Brown

Ms. Jazmine Brown is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She received her first bachelors in biological science from the University of South Carolina-Columbia. From there she obtained her associate’s degree in nursing from Midlands Technical College where she developed a love for psychiatric nursing. Jazmine has worked in many areas in healthcare including working with patients with disabilities and mental health disorders in long-term care and immediate care facilities in the Midlands. She also worked to educate clinicians on implementing and improving quality of care standards from governing bodies such as CMS and NCQA. During her experiences she noticed a substantial need for mental health services in her community. This prompted her to pursue a Master of Nursing in Psychiatric Mental Health from Maryville University of St. Louis. She partook in a fellowship/training program with MUSC where she partnered with primary care offices in rural areas to provide psychiatric care across SC. Finally, Jazmine currently provides access to comprehensive, patient-center psychiatric care for people in South Carolina.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you are onboarded (signed all consent forms) as a patient, you will receive an email and text with your appointment date and time. At your first visit, we complete an intake, I give you my recommendations at the end of the visit, and you decided if you wish to continue as a patient at that time. If so, we send medications (if appropriate) or referral to therapy and schedule your follow up visit. Follow ups are every 30 days until stable, once stable we move visits out to 6 weeks then 8 weeks, etc.
