Getting to know Dr. Jean Okie

The purpose of psychotherapy is to increase satisfaction in life. Over my years as a psychologist, I've integrated a number of therapeutic approaches to best serve clients' diverse needs and goals. My practice includes children, adolescents, and adults, with a subspecialty in couples therapy. I have experience treating anxiety and depression; effects of trauma; bereavement; parenting and relationship issues; and family complications associated with divorce. I work with a network of psychiatrists to whom I can refer clients if the situation warrants it, for example, if questions about medication arise. I earned my PhD in Psychology from Adelphi University. I have had a private practice in Brooklyn Heights for 20 years. Additionally, I worked for 24 years at the Heights Hill Outpatient Department of South Beach Psychiatric Center, where I was Clinic Director and Director of Training. I am a Medicare provider. I do not participate in other insurance networks, but I can provide you with a statement to submit to your insurance carrier for out-of-network reimbursement. Once you make an appointment with me online, I'll call you to confirm it and to discuss any questions you may have.
