Psychologist
IL
My therapeutic style is grounded in Relational-Cultural Theory. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship while exploring interpersonal relationship patterns, relationship- and self-beliefs, improving self-worth, and modeling relationship effectiveness, using practical DBT, CBT, and ACT skills as appropriate to foster growth. I have focused my professional training and experience on becoming an expert in trauma-informed, empowering, and multiculturally sensitive psychological care, with a highly developed understanding of how gender issues impact interpersonal relationships. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of the therapeutic alliance. As such, all new potential clients are given a free 30-minute consultation. This is an opportunity for you to get a sense of who I am and how I work. This is also an opportunity for me to ensure that my skill set is a good match for your needs. If you are happy with the consultation experience, a formal intake assessment will be scheduled.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am only paneled with BCBS and I am currently only seeing clients through telehealth. I may find a space in the future to have a hybrid practice to see people in person and virtually, but I cannot guarantee that will happen.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first meeting will be the 30-minute consultation as described above. There is no charge for this consultation. If you choose to work with me, then we will meet for the 50-minute intake assessment, which I consider the initial session, during which I will ask a lot of questions about your symptoms, experiences, relationships, and your treatment goals. Then we meet for our first working therapy session, which is 50 minutes. Typically I will ask about how you have been feeling and if there is anything in particular you would like to focus on during that session. If there is nothing coming up for you, no worries. We will explore what has been going on in your life since we last met and find something to work on.
