“I have been a patient of Jeffrey for about a year now, and I highly recommend him. He really listens and works with you. He’s not at all dismissive- he is validating and compassionate. I see him for meditation management- I have been on several psychiatric medications my whole adult life, so I’m more “complex”- and my medication management has gone seamlessly with him and I’m stable and doing well. He truly cares about each patient as an individual and listens, and is a great provider. 5/5 stars, definitely recommend him! ”

Getting to know Jeffrey Cantrell

Jeffrey Cantrell is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides personalized care for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, treatment-resistant depression, and other mental health concerns. He combines evidence-based psychiatric treatment with a collaborative, whole-person approach designed to help patients feel better, function better, and make informed decisions about their care. As an Army veteran, Jeff brings firsthand understanding of the unique challenges that can accompany military service, trauma, major life transitions, and reintegration. He is also committed to providing inclusive, affirming care to LGBTQIA+ individuals and patients from diverse backgrounds. Jeff believes effective psychiatric care begins with understanding the person behind the symptoms. He takes time to learn about each patient’s experiences, goals, lifestyle, relationships, and previous treatment history before developing an individualized treatment plan. His goal is to build a strong therapeutic partnership based on trust, open communication, and shared decision-making so patients feel supported and actively involved throughout their treatment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and related mood conditions. My approach is collaborative, practical, and personalized. I want patients to feel comfortable discussing what they are experiencing, understand their treatment options, and play an active role in decisions about their care. As an Army veteran, I also have a particular appreciation for the mental health challenges that can accompany trauma, military service, major life transitions, and reintegration. I am committed to providing inclusive and affirming care to patients from all backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQIA+ community. After you request an appointment, a member of our patient care team will contact you to confirm the details, review insurance or payment information, and help ensure that your needs are a good fit for our practice.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Asking for help can be difficult, so I try to make our first conversation comfortable, straightforward, and judgment-free. During your first appointment, we will talk about what you have been experiencing, your mental health history, previous treatments and medications, current stressors, lifestyle, relationships, and what you would most like to improve. From there, we will develop an individualized treatment plan together. I use a shared decision-making approach, which means I will explain my recommendations, discuss the benefits and considerations of different options, and involve you directly in decisions about your care. I want patients to feel empowered, informed, and supported throughout treatment. My goal is not only to reduce symptoms, but to help you improve your functioning, quality of life, and confidence in managing your mental health.

Jeffrey is an amazing practitioner. He is kind, patient, and punctual! I see him for regular med management every 6-8 weeks. He's not pushy at all about treatments and works with what I'm comfortable with. Highly recommend.
This provider knew he wasn’t qualified to treat me after reading my intake. Rather than reach out to tell me this he charged a full session to my insurance to tell me in ten seconds that he had determined he was not qualified to treat me and refused to provide a referral. Shady!
