About Dr. Jeffrey Mendelson

Dr. Jeffrey Mendelson is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and an expert in the area of joint replacement. He completed medical school education at Wayne State University and his Residency through The Detroit Medical Center. He attended a prestigious fellowship in hip and knee reconstruction at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell in New York before returning to the Detroit area to enter private practice. Dr. Jeff has advanced training in Birmingham Hip Resurfacing and has completed hundreds of these procedures. Each year since 2011, he has been named by his peers as an Hour Magazine Top Doc in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Jeff Mendelson practices general orthopedics in both our Livonia and Warren office and he is on staff at both St. Mary Mercy Livonia Hospital and St. John Macomb Hospital in Warren where he serves on the Medical Executive Committee and holds the title of Chief of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

Jeffrey Mendelson is an excellent doctor and surgeon. I met Dr Mendelson along with his father about 27 years ago. They cared for my son after a mortercycle accident. I seen the doctor for my knee and back. I can not say enough about Dr Mendelson. He is the best. It was very easy to book my appointment on line. The office staff was exceptional. If you are looking for an excellent doctor and surgeon, look no further.

Very thorough exam and consult. But I did not see Dr Mendelson as scheduled. The woman I saw was very personable as were all staff.

I wasn’t being able to see Dr Jeffrey Mendelson in my appointment with him, which is ridiculous. He sent a really arrogant and rude lady to consult with me who doesn’t even bother to introduce herself when she walked in.
She treated me like I was an idiot who is wasting her time, despite the fact that I do have a shoulder mobility issue that I try to seek professional opinion. She might think it’s not serious but my left shoulder hurts at certain angle and can’t perform the same function to the right shoulder, very obvious uneven flexibility.
But all I got was a 5 mins unpleasant conversation with the lady who I still don’t know her role/tittle.
I can’t wait to see how much they’re going to charge me for the x-rays and a failed “office visit”. I would never recommend anyone to this provider.

This Dr was very dismissive, I asked can I start doing my daily exercise and he said it’s in your conscious? My appointment was also very rushed.

The nurse practitioner should get a 5 star because she was very patient and she took time out to talk with me and answer any questions that I had as if I were the only per In the building. However, the doctor came in with his phone in his hand as if he had someone on hold. He was kind, pleasant and I understand that his nurse had everything covered but I’d rather see her again if I had to return.

I saw Jeff but his brother David has done at least 7 major surgeries for my extended family. There are 5 doctors with the same last name in one practice so you know there is great institutional knowledge. I instantly broke out in a cold sweat and felt dizzy when I saw needles. The staff noted this immediately and did masterful job of calming me down. They also have an excellent online experience for new patient paperwork vs 17 pages on a clipboard without a desk. Can’t speak to their insurance acceptance but I have BCBS PPO for reference.

Dr. Jeffery is very understanding and actually examines the patient for the problem cuz now a-days drs just diagnose without looking further. He seemed like he takes his time with his patients and tries to understand the situation and creates a solution. Also, they are very flexible with scheduling as well, I had to cancel twice and was still able to reschedule easily.
