Dr. Jeffrey D. Tompson is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He completed his Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at Northwestern Medicine, McGaw Medical Center in Chicago, IL, following his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Rutgers University, New Jersey School of Medicine.
Dr. Tompson earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Drexel University College of Medicine & holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Tufts University. Dr. Tompson is affiliated with several prestigious medical organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) & the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). His expertise includes treating complex sports injuries & performing advanced surgical procedures, with a focus on hip & knee conditions.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tompson is a prolific researcher with multiple peer-reviewed publications & presentations at national & international conferences. He is also passionate about mentoring the next generation of medical professionals & has been actively involved in teaching during his residency. Outside of medicine, Dr. Tompson enjoys ice hockey, golf, tennis, cooking, & technology.

I highly recommend Dr. Jeffrey Tompson and the Union County Orthopaedic Group (a division of OrthoNJ). I went to their office today for a surgical consultation for my knee and felt that I was listened to and that all my concerns were addressed with care, compassion, and, most importantly, competence. Dr. Tompson presented me with my options in an easy-to-understand way, which helped me make the best decision regarding my knee. I once again recommend them highly.
