About Dr. Jeffrey Unger
Jeffrey S. Unger attended medical school at Boston University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. He completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York. Dr. Unger then completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at New York University Medical Center in New York. Dr. Unger has written many abstracts and publications in the field of Gastroenterology. From 2000 to the present, he has been an Attending Physician in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology at the Robert Wood Johnson at Somerset, Somerville, NJ. He has served on many committees at Robert Wood Johnson at Somerset including the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and the Quality control Committee. He was appointed Chief of Gastroenterology at Robert Wood Johnson at Somerset and served for two terms. Dr. Unger is board certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Unger has a special interest in liver disease and reflux disease. He also performs endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy, polypectomy, variceal banding, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, biliary stenting, gallstone extraction, infrared photocoagulation of hemorrhoids, argon plasma coagulation, capsule enteroscopy and various other procedures.

I am very unhappy that the office did not accept the copay as payment in full. They do not have their own billing department and it is farmed out and impossible to get a straight answer to a simple question. I signed up for email and telephone updates to be harassed by the billing monsters. They are now hounding me for an outrageously high bill for the 25 minutes we were in office together. I am hesitant to go back for any more tests as I was not expecting a bill after I paid copay. No one will return my calls.

When a friend asked me who was a good Gastroenterologist in the area I recommended Dr Unger. He has great credentials, easy to talk to and listens. Wait time is usually under 5 minutes and you don't feel rushed. He often uses a picture or chart to explain a medical condition/ procedure.
