Getting to know Dr. Jena Jamison

**We ONLY accept MOST United, Aetna, Cigna and Anthem BC/BS of CO insurance plans, by contracting with Alma for these services. Any other plan, such as Rocky Mtn Health, will be cash-pay. ALL INSURANCE APPOINTMENTS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE BY TELE-SESSION, NOT IN-OFFICE. ** *You must complete the screening form available through ZocDoc, while booking your appointment or within 12 hours of doing so.* My practice helps people who are feeling down, worried, scattered, or just not like their normal selves; to feel calm, clear and content. I treat most types of mood, anxiety, attention and sleep disorders, as well as things related to those problems such as eating or substance use issues. I focus on using holistic treatment in combination with traditional medicine, and embracing all types of evidence-based treatment. I've been practicing medicine for 13 years. I completed undergraduate training at Duke University, medical school at East Tennessee State University, residency at the University of Virginia, and chief residency in my last year. I completed training at the Barbara Brennan School of Healing in 2017. I continue to add to my practice through additional training, most recently including modules on ketamine, hormone and TMS treatments. During your initial appointment, psychological history, symptom scales, and in some cases, bloodwork will provide a foundation for diagnosis, and treatment planning. This may include medication, supportive psychotherapy, supplements, or possibly other treatments. Typically, it takes about 2-6 follow up appointments after that, to make treatment adjustments, before patients are feeling better. Follow up appointments are often between 1-4 weeks apart. Once patients are feeling better, they continue to follow up with me every 3-6 months to continue treatment, unless they choose to stop treatment, or move care to another doctor's practice.

What should a new client know about working with you?

BEFORE BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT, please be aware I do not see patients for: Evaluations for court or work (consider a forensic psychiatrist for this) Court testimony (consider a psychiatrist who gives "expert opinions" legally for this) Patients who are currently taking a benzodiazepine daily, or more than the typical maximum dose of any controlled substance. Patients wanting an evaluation for a letter for an emotional support animal. ( I will medically support these in limited scenarios, if your pet has been or is being trained as a medical service animal. Service animal training is rigorous, assures proper behavior, and minimizes any potential threat to other people or animals.) Psychosis Acute suicidal thoughts (unless you're currently a patient) Any issues involving violent behavior Patients under 18 or over 65

Great listener, very attentive. Excellent bedside manner.
She was very professional and made me feel comfortable.
First therapist I've ever seen-- she's the perfect fit.
I don’t want to divulge too many personal details because it honestly isn’t worth reliving the experience. What I do feel compelled to say is that this was, without question, the worst psychiatrist I have ever encountered. From the start, I felt berated, judged, and blamed rather than listened to or supported. The tone was dismissive and condescending, and at no point did I feel treated with basic empathy or respect. Instead of collaborative care, the interaction felt punitive and invalidating—as if my experiences and concerns simply did not matter. Mental health care should be a space where patients feel safe, heard, and taken seriously. That was not the case here. I would strongly caution others to steer clear of this psychiatrist unless you are prepared to leave feeling smaller, unheard, and worse than when you arrived.

First time seeing a psychiatrist, left the appointment feeling really confused about the whole situation and feeling really bad about myself. Legit cried the rest of the day after seeing her, and was unsure I even wanted to see anyone at this point to help me. Prescribed medicine after 1st 40 min appointment although she felt I didn’t really fit the standard ADHD profile.

Dr. Jameson is very knowleadgeable, gives options and carefully listens. The most profesional doctor I have met with this far.
She's really good. Patient and clear such that you know her questions are leading to reasonable decisions. I've had a dozen psychiatrists and she's in my top 3 for sure, perhaps top 2.
As always, Dr. J is very informative, knowledgeable, attentive and caring. It's been a great visit every single time and always beneficial to my short term and long term vision as a patient.
I've been seeing Dr. Jamison for over a year now and I can't recommend her highly enough. She's attentive, intelligent, and provides thoughtful feedback.
Dr. Jamisons office is a very safe and comfortable environment for me. I feel that I can speak freely without shame or judgment. In addition the office is directly on the redline and she almost always sees me right on time.
I've been seeing Dr Jamison for about a year and a half now. She listens, offers thoughtful feedback, and is accessible. I've recommended her to close friends.
Laughed about my illness, would not treat me the way I have been treated for years. Money is way more important to her than paiants health and happiness.
Dr. J is simply the best. From her knowledge to her insight to the care she expresses each and every time I'm there, she has set a new standard for me regarding how doctors and patients interact. I couldn't imagine going to anyone else at this point.
I haven't seen many psychiatrists, so I can't really compare her to others, but I really like Dr. Jamison and have been seeing her for about six months now. I feel like she listens well, treats me like an intelligent person, and has a calm and warm demeanor.
Amazing ! So sweet, smart and helpful!
Dr Jamison is great. She listens, she is always running on time. She is empathetic, but challenges your views. Would certainly recommend her.
Though I've met some wonderful therapists, I've never met a psychiatrist I liked and trusted, until Dr. Jamison. I am so grateful. She listens attentively and is self-aware and humble enough to not impose her own agenda onto me as a patient. Rather, she is there to work with me to find the best option. I immediately got the sense that she meditates or practices some kind of other mindfulness practice, because of her body language, her radiating compassion, and her skilled attention during our psych sessions--even the short follow-ups. So, even though she's out-of-network (this is a big downside to working with her, for me), it's worth it to me. If being treated with respect, and being listened to as a human being, and not an object onto which docs project their own egos, I highly recommend Dr. Jamison.
Dr Jamison is an honest and caring medical professional. She is an excellent listener and customizes your treatment plan to meet your specific requirements.
Dr Jamison is amazing, she gives me hope and insight into issues I had not considered. I truly appreciate her listening to me and providing practical solutions.
Having to switch doctors is never an easy task, but Dr. Jamison has won me over as a patient in one visit. She is the most sincere, down-to-earth, compassionate doctor I've ever met. Dr. Jamison was easy to talk to, made me feel valued as a patient and genuinely took the time to find out about me and my situation. She has set a new standard for me for how a doctor-patient relationship should be.
    Dr. Jamison is wonderful!
    Great ! Very smart !
Went to doctor because I wasn't sure my meds were working and was feeling a little off in general. She guided me towards a bipolar II diagnosis, which seems a little strange to me considering this is not something that any psychatrist has diagnosed me with in the past (although I understand that a BP2 diagnosis is difficult since the symptoms often are masked). I found it a bit irresponsible of her to diagnose me with an entirely new mental illness considering she had only visited with me once. I am NOT questioning the accuracy of her diagnosis in this review, but merely saying that this is a HUGE change in my diagnosis and I would have preferred a more cautioned approach. Given my new diagnosis she put me on a mood stabilizer and let me know that some patients experienced mild side effects. She walked me through the options, and we agreed to start on the one with the least amount of side effects. She gave me instructions for titration. I began my regime, and fell immediately ill. I attempted to contact her office to get some advice (this is such a common thing when you go on these types of medication, that I just wanted to make sure that nothing I was experiencing was out of the ordinary). No call back. No follow up. I find it very irresponsible of a mental health professional to send someone on their way with a mood stabilizer and then offer them no sort of support or follow-up in the next week. Every single psychatric professional I have received treatment from will ALWAYS call to see how the meds are feeling within a week of a new prescription. A lot of these medications have serious side effects, so it is important to have some sort of monitoring from your mental health professional. This particular one had all of the normal ones (stomach ache, headaches) but then some nasty ones too (you might get a rash that will kill you! you might exxperience total short term memory loss! you might stand in a harris teeter for 15 minutes having no idea how you got there or what you are doing!). I fortunately didn't get the rash, but I did get the debilitating memory loss and loss of cognitive function and I was scared. And I didn't feel like this doctor would care that I was scared at all. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone based on the interaction I had with her and her lack of follow-up after putting me on a new med. These are serious drugs that seriously effect the human mind and body, and it is a professional duty to make sure that people are responding correctly to the medications. Especially since discontinuing medications can lead to horrible things happening to a person. I quit the medicine and found a new doctor.
I always have a great experience with Dr. Jamison: fantastic bedside manners, very helpful suggestions, very empathetic. I highly recommend her!
Definitely read the instructions on how her office operates prior to your first visit. The instructions are very clear and helpful.
I thought the Dr. was fine and am returning to see her. She was professional and listened. Explained processes to me. The only thing (and not a big deal) is the office is within another functioning office, so you're sitting in a waiting area near the door and it's a little awkward but it was explained in paperwork. No receptionist. My need to see a doctor outweighed these issues but just FYI
Overall I liked her. She has a nice bedside manner and calming demeanor. I will say I was experiencing some situational anxiety due to a couple of life transitions that I was having trouble coping with, but I've never had Anxiety in the past and it's never impacted my life tremendously. I was a bit put off by the fact that she wanted me to go on an anti-depressant. And I was even more put off that she wanted to put me on a very serious anti-psychotic to help me sleep at night. I understand that this is what psychiatrists do in this day and age, but I probably should have just gone to see a therapist.
