What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note: I do not accept EAP programs. I'm so glad you're here and choosing to make your mental health a priority. Whether you're feeling nervous, unsure, or hopeful about beginning or continuing psychiatric care, all of those emotions are valid and entirely understandable. I'm a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner focused on medication management, and my goal is to offer skilled, compassionate care that meets you right where you are on your path. Throughout our work together, you can expect a therapeutic relationship grounded in real trust, mutual respect, and honest communication. I view my role as more than writing prescriptions; I'm a partner by your side, offering clinical expertise, sincere empathy, and a deep commitment to your growth. Asking for help takes courage, and I never lose sight of the trust that decision represents. From our very first visit, I want you to know that your story matters, your experiences are recognized, and your personal goals guide everything we do. In our appointments, I complete comprehensive assessments that go beyond psychiatric symptoms to consider your physical health, sleep, sources of stress, relationships, and daily functioning. When we discuss medication options, I'll be transparent about how each one works, what benefits you can realistically expect, which side effects to look out for, and when you may start to feel a meaningful difference. Your questions, preferences, and concerns are always welcome, and they will directly influence the choices we make together. Finding the right medication can take patience and careful attention, and I'll stay with you through each stage, celebrating your progress and working through obstacles as they come up. I provide a warm, confidential, judgment-free setting where your concerns will always be listened to, validated, and taken seriously. I'm also available between visits, offering the steady, dependable support that helps you keep moving toward lasting wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note: I do not accept EAP (Employee Assistance Program) benefits. I believe healing begins with genuine connection. Our first appointment is dedicated to getting to know you, including your struggles, strengths, goals, and how you personally experience what you’re facing. I complete a thorough psychiatric evaluation that explores your symptoms, when they began, what tends to trigger them, and how they affect your daily life. I’ll also ask about your physical health, current medications, substance use, and family mental health history, since each of these helps determine the treatment approach that’s right for you. Once the evaluation is complete, I’ll share my diagnostic impressions and recommendations in plain, easy-to-understand language. If medication may help, I’ll review your options, explain the differences between them, and walk you through my clinical reasoning. Questions are always welcome, because when you feel informed, you can take part in your care with confidence. You never have to decide on the spot. We’ll also discuss strategies beyond medication, since lasting improvement usually involves more than a prescription. Follow-up appointments involve careful, ongoing monitoring. Are your symptoms improving? Have you noticed any side effects? How are things at work, at home, and in your relationships? Based on your answers, I may adjust doses or change medications when appropriate, and I’ll always acknowledge the progress you’ve made. Healing doesn’t always follow a straight line, so I’ll support you through setbacks while keeping our focus on moving forward. When it would strengthen your care, I coordinate with your therapist and stay in communication with your primary care provider. Together, we’ll work toward real, lasting change, guided by consistent commitment, compassion, and high-quality care. Whatever brought you here, my hope is that over time you’ll feel more like yourself and more optimistic about the future.
