Getting to know Jennifer Eastman

Hello, I'm Jennifer Eastman, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience in healthcare. I'm passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care that addresses both your mental health and overall wellness needs. My journey in healthcare began as a pediatric nurse at Loma Linda University Medical Center, where I developed a deep appreciation for patient-centered care. I've since expanded my expertise through advanced training in both family medicine and psychiatric care, allowing me to offer comprehensive treatment for patients across the lifespan. Currently, I provide outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults and adolescents with diverse behavioral health conditions, including ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. I believe in integrating both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, working closely with your existing healthcare team to ensure coordinated care. What sets me apart is my unique background in clinical research, having served as a Sub-Investigator in numerous FDA-regulated trials. This experience keeps me current with the latest evidence-based treatments, ensuring I can offer you the most advanced therapeutic options available. I'm committed to trauma-informed and culturally competent care, creating a safe space where you feel heard and respected. My approach emphasizes psychological safety, patient engagement, and collaborative treatment planning tailored to your individual needs and goals. My goal is to support your journey toward mental health stabilization and functional improvement, helping you achieve lasting wellness and a better quality of life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in psychiatric medication management with a strong emphasis on treatment plans tailored to your individual needs. My approach begins with genuine listening — not just cataloging your symptoms, but understanding how they are affecting your daily functioning, relationships, work, and overall quality of life. Your first visit is comprehensive by design. We will explore your mental health background, current challenges, prior treatment experiences, relevant medical conditions, and what you are hoping to accomplish. I take time to be thorough because the clearer my understanding of your full picture, the better equipped I am to help you. My clinical experience spans complex and straightforward histories alike, and I bring both confidence and compassion to every evaluation. Everything I recommend is rooted in current research and clinical best practices. When we talk about medications, I keep the conversation clear and accessible — no unnecessary jargon. You will come away understanding how a medication works, why it is a strong fit for your situation, what improvement to anticipate and over what timeframe, and which side effects to monitor. I welcome your questions at every step, because informed decision-making is not just encouraged here — it is central to how effective treatment works. I start medications at appropriate doses, monitor your progress consistently, and refine the plan based on clinical findings and your direct feedback. I am deliberate about avoiding combinations of multiple medications unless the clinical rationale is clear, and I always consider practical factors — cost, insurance, and whether a dosing schedule realistically fits your life. Between appointments, please reach out if side effects develop or your symptoms shift — I would far rather hear from you promptly than have you manage uncertainty alone. I also coordinate with your other providers when it supports your overall care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Starting psychiatric treatment can feel overwhelming, and I strive to make the process as comfortable as possible. During our first meeting — typically 60 minutes — we'll have an in-depth discussion about what you're experiencing. I'll explore your symptoms thoroughly, asking about onset, duration, severity, and triggers. We'll also discuss your medical history, previous psychiatric treatments, family mental health history, current stressors, and your goals for treatment. This initial assessment allows me to formulate an accurate diagnosis and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs. I use clinical interviews and validated screening tools, always explaining what I'm assessing and why. Diagnosis in psychiatry isn't always straightforward, and I'm transparent when there's diagnostic uncertainty. You deserve honesty at every stage of this process. If medication is recommended, I take time to explain how it works, the expected timeline for improvement, potential side effects, and what to do if problems arise. We'll discuss your concerns and preferences, and I'll offer options when multiple medications could be appropriate. The decision to start medication is always yours. Follow-up visits for medication management are typically 30 minutes, usually monthly once you've stabilized. We review your symptom trajectory, assess medication tolerability, monitor for side effects, and adjust dosing as needed. I use measurement-based care when possible, incorporating symptom scales to track progress objectively. I maintain open communication and encourage you to contact the office between visits if concerns arise. My practice philosophy centers on dignity, collaboration, and evidence-based treatment delivered with compassion. Mental health recovery is a journey, and I'm committed to supporting you every step of the way. You deserve care that honors your experiences and empowers you toward lasting wellness and a fulfilling life. Together, we'll find the path forward.

Jennifer Eastman is amazing! An incredible provider - knowledgeable, empathetic, understanding and respectful.
She is the best!!! So caring, understanding and real. She is a great communicator and always willing to help any way she can. One of the best experiences I’ve had in healthcare!
I thought she was very straight and to the point. I felt like she was honest and clear about my conditions, and the best way to work through them
Jennifer is a comforting and empathetic presence who listens intently to the needs and wants of her patients. She eased any nerves I had and was very informative when I had any questions. Highly recommend!
I've been really happy with my appointments with Jennifer Eastman so far. She's clear and professional while also being personable. She's as willing to listen to my questions or hesitations as she is to share information. She also has a diverse background, including in family medicine. She seems broadly knowledgeable about prescriptions and potential interactions, but is willing to research specific questions when I have them. Based on these interactions, I trust her advice and look forward to checking in with her about how I'm doing.
I have been impressed with NP Jennifer Eastman’s psychiatry support as it is holistic, empathetic and thorough. She spends enough time and effort to get to know me, truly understand my needs and offer holistic solutions or appropriate medication to improve symptoms. I appreciate her strong depth of medical knowledge and willingness to collaborate with my doctor as well, which has improved my care due to medical complexity in the needs she supports me with. It is easy to trust her in my treatment a result.
ADHD, depression, or anxiety? Jennifer Eastman is an exceptional prescriber. Jennifer takes the time to thoughtfully diagnose and treat mental health conditions without making the visit feel rushed. Her care is compassionate, knowledgeable, and patient-centered. After moving, I struggled to find a prescriber willing to refill my ADHD (stimulant) medication. None of the providers before Jennifer explained why it's so difficult to receive care in my new state. Jennifer provided that missing context. She agreed to continue my ADHD medication and also suggested an additional medication to improve its effectiveness at a lower dose. As a result, my executive functioning is back to my “medicated normal” while taking less medication. I am incredibly grateful to have found Jennifer Eastman. If you have a mental health condition or concern, I highly recommend her. She truly listens, gets to know you, and helps you get back on track.
With Jennifer I have had such a positive experience, she really cares about the individual. She asks a lot of questions, wants to genuinely understand what you're going through so she can find the best way to help you improve your life. After having several negative experiences with other doctors ilof various fields, she is a breathe of fresh air. I would recommend her to anyone in need of a psychiatrist.
Jennifer is an amazing provider!
I scheduled an appointment, but the provider was a no-show. They claimed there was an issue with the Zoom link and that they couldn’t see me in the room. Instead of notifying me about any technical difficulties, they decided to cancel without any notice or attempt to resolve the issues. I suspect the provider wasn't even in the room. When I called to let them know that I had already been in the zoom waiting room for seven minutes, the staff member stated she would inform the provider and would join me shortly, which suggested the provider hadn’t arrived yet. She also promised to call me back once the provider was available or if there were any updates. However, I never received a call back. When I reached out again, the staff member was rude and told me I was free to find another provider before abruptly hanging up.

I was so pleased with my appointment; I experience a lot of anxiety when seeking treatment, but she made me feel extremely safe and heard. Making yourself available on the weekends and evenings is so accommodating and not done as often, so I really appreciate the generosity in that. Thank you!
Jennifer got straight to the point on assisting me in a timely manner! She also helped me understand my concerns, and showed empathy when sharing my experience with mental health. Highly recommend!
