***PLEASE NOTE: WITHIN 48 HOURS OF REQUESTING AN APPOINTMENT, YOU WILL BE CONTACTED BY OUR ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM TO COMPLETE THE REQUIRED CONSENT FORMS AND PAY THE DEPOSIT TO RESERVE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME. IF WE ARE UNABLE TO REACH YOU, YOUR APPOINTMENT WILL BE CANCELLED. REMINDER: WE ARE NOT IN-NETWORK WITH ANY INSURANCE PROVIDERS AND WE DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICAID.*** I believe psychotherapy should be a transformational experience. We often get stuck in patterns of relating and being that, at one time, were adaptive and protective, but no longer help us to be our best selves. Psychotherapy helps to understand those patterns, develop strategies to disrupt them, and create new ways of being and relating that get us closer to our personal and professional goals. I strive to create an environment that is warm, nonjudgmental, collaborative, culturally sensitive, and challenging enough to explore and make necessary changes in areas of your life that we identify together as important to address. I am an integrative therapist and draw from humanistic, cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, and interpersonal modalities to help clients achieve symptom relief and lasting change. I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from National Louis University and hold a bachelor's degree from Loyola University Chicago.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am very collaborative in my approach to therapy and psychological assessment. As a psychologist, it is important to me to learn as much information as possible from a client regarding their current struggles, history, strengths, and growth edges, and what areas of their life they want to improve. I use feminist, multi-cultural, and trauma-informed approaches to contextualize the needs of the client and continually assess to make sure therapy is meeting the needs of the client. Dr. Jennifer Fast was initially licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in Illinois in 2011 and has been a licensed Clinical Psychologist in Texas since 2018. She has trained and worked in a variety of settings including higher education, community mental health, and residential facility. She graduated with her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and classical studies from Loyola University-Chicago. Dr. Fast’s areas of specialty include treatment of adults, young adults and adolescents, LGBTQIA+, trauma, crisis assessment, group psychotherapy, clinical supervision and training, and community/organizational interventions. She provides treatment from a feminist and humanistic framework and integrates other evidenced-based interventions to meet the individual needs and goals of clients. She is also trained and practices Discernment Counseling for couples on the brink of divorce. Dr. Fast views psychological and cognitive assessment as an empowering experience for clients and as an important adjunct to psychotherapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A comprehensive initial assessment is the first step in the process to make sure I have a solid understanding of the client. One conversation is never enough to fully know someone, but it serves as a starting point in determining the best course of treatment and making sure the client feels that I am a good fit for them. I do not believe one treatment model fits all clients. I tailor treatment to the specific needs of the client using evidence-based treatment modalities including person-centered, cognitive behavioral, humanistic-existential, and interpersonally-oriented approaches.

More information on payments and coverage

A deposit is required to reserve your initial appointment with one of our therapists. The deposit is equal to the cost of your first session and will be applied to that session automatically once the session has been completed. However, as per our general financial policy, if you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, this deposit can be refunded back to you upon request or applied to your first session if you reschedule. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment or no show, this deposit will not be refunded or applied to future sessions. Our clinicians’ time is important to us and to others who are hoping to utilize the open slots on their schedules, so we do ask that you notify us as soon as you know you won’t be able to make it so we can make that slot open to others who are in need of therapeutic assistance. Payment in full is expected at the time of service. Our fee structure is based on an hourly rate. If sessions lasting longer than an hour are scheduled or occur, the fee will be prorated at the same hourly rate. Will I Be Reimbursed for Out-Of-Network Therapy? In most cases, yes. Stanford Couples Counseling is happy to offer a superbill upon request which you may be able to file with your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement. This means you will need to pay your therapist for the entire session when you receive their services, but your insurance company may be able to send you a check to reimburse a portion of the cost once you file an out-of-network reimbursement claim. **Please contact your insurance provider to check whether you qualify for out-of-network reimbursement benefits** For additional questions about payment or insurance, please call our office to speak with one of our Client Support Specialists.
