Getting to know Dr. Jennifer Snowden

Dr. Jennifer Snowden earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock in 1995. She then completed a residency in General Psychiatry at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, followed by a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at Emory University from 1995 to 2000. She spent ten years practicing forensic psychiatry at a state hospital in Atlanta. Seeking new experiences, she spent eighteen months as a locum tenens psychiatrist, primarily practicing in New England. During this time, she met her future husband, and together they decided they wanted to eventually live in the New England area. In 2013, Dr. Snowden became a telepsychiatrist, which provided her the opportunity to move to Rhode Island and practice from the home she and her husband purchased there. She initially saw patients via telepsychiatry at a community mental health center in rural Georgia and later took a position as a remote consultant telepsychiatrist at Acadia Hospital in Bangor, Maine. Dr. Snowden uses a practical and realistic approach with patients, helping them identify small, attainable goals and motivating them to achieve those goals. She prefers to work with adults and relishes the opportunity to work with patients who are highly motivated for change.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

Thought the first 45 minutes of questions could of been handled with an email and would preferred getting into my problems!

Dr. Snowden was extremely pleasant, understanding, and helpful. Quite literally a life saver!

She was knowledgeable about her treatment regimens and medications, however her bedside manner was not the best. She was constantly typing throughout the entire visit and did not care to get to know more about me and my issues. She strictly said the questions that were prompted for her.

Dr Snowden listened and confirmed what I already suspected that I was under treated and under diagnosed. after discussing the meds I was taking she was able to prescribe for me on my first visit. I was pleased with Dr Snowdens attentiveness and caring approach. i would highly recommend her.

no complaints. I was very anxious about asking for help after what happened to me. Dr. Snowden was just fantastic, she listened to me without judgment, believed my story (which even I struggle to believe happened) and offered all the help I needed. i have a follow-up scheduled and actually look forward to it.
