About Dr. Jennifer Susoreny-Velgos

Dr. Jennifer Susoreny-Velgos is a general surgeon who treats adult and geriatric patients with all general surgery concerns. She is robotically trained and performs robotic assisted laparoscopic ventral and inguinal hernia repair, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hiatal hernia repair, and colon resections. She also enjoys providing care for benign and malignant breast disease, skin and soft tissue conditions, and thyroid disease. She performs EGDs and colonoscopies as needed for her patients. Dr. Susoreny-Velgos completed her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Classics at Indiana University. She went to Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school in rural east Tennessee. Following medical school she spent five years in Farmington Hills, Michigan completing residency at Beaumont Farmington Hills. She worked in rural Arkansas doing general surgery then emergency general surgery in Panama City, Florida after residency before moving to LaGrange, Georgia to join Wellstar General Surgery. She is married to her husband John and has three dogs Minnie, Mocha, and Duke and a cat Layla. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, kayaking, traveling and participating in medical missions in her free time. She enjoys teaching medical students and has been adjunct clinical faculty for the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine and New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University. She is a member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS), American College of Surgeons (ACS), American Medical Association (AMA), American Osteopathic Association (AOA), American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS), and the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS).
