About Dr. Jennifer Zocca
Dr. Jennifer Zocca provides compassionate, cutting edge, multi-disciplinary pain management to patients at Maiden Lane Medical. She is dual board certified in anesthesiology and pain management through the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Zocca received her undergraduate degree in psychology, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University. She stayed at Georgetown to complete her medical degree and graduated cum laude, with a special distinction as a health justice scholar.
After finishing her internship in internal medicine at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., Dr. Zocca relocated to California to complete her residency training in anesthesiology at Stanford University. Following this, Dr. Zocca spent an additional year specializing in pain management as a fellow at the Tri-Institute Pain Management Program in Manhattan, during which she trained at New York Presbyterian Cornell Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering and Hospital for Special Surgery.
Dr. Zocca has several peer-reviewed publications relating to pain management and anesthesiology. She also serves as a reviewer for Pain Medicine, a journal focusing on updates in the field of pain management.
Dr. Zocca has special interests in the non-surgical management of knee pain, low back pain and cancer-related pain. She is trained to provide complex, comprehensive pain management including medication management, referrals to physical and occupational therapy, obtaining imaging and diagnostic testing, and performing a wide array of interventional treatment options. She also has an interest in mindfulness-based approaches to pain management.

I was having a pretty horrendous time with a different doctor (unrelated practice) so I booked a last-minute appointment with Dr. Zocca, and that was the best decision I've made in a while! Zocca has an amazing familiarity with my conditions and a treatment plan in mind for patients with that disorder but didn't ever make me feel railroaded, it felt like she really formulated a specialized plan for me based on what I told her. I felt very listened to and she has instantly become one of my favorite doctors I've ever had!

Very disappointed. Waited an hour for them to “verify” my insurance. The doctor didn’t really listen to me and just told me to try PT, even though I already tried that. I left without treatment and without a diagnosis.

It’s not a reflection on Dr. Zocca but more on the inadequacy of her staff and, possibly, their relationship with Zocdoc. In anticipation of my appointment, I contacted the office to verify two things: that my insurance was accepted (as noted online) and that was it might be used toward Prolotherapy treatment. (also advertised) I was relieved when the receptionist answered affirmatively, adding the specificity that I’d possibly have a deductible, etc. On the way to my appointment today, I received fragmented messages from her office, saying that my appointment was canceled. When I finally reached a receptionist, it was only a bit more helpful than speaking with a computer. She explained that it was canceled because the doctor does not practice this intervention and that she did not accept my insurance. Honestly, to reinsure her dignity, I did not really put all onus on their team, but in retrospect, I am completely dumbfounded. This sloppiness is also, I think, a trend of the time.
