What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a calm, respectful, and supportive environment where you can be honest, ask questions, and feel truly heard. I take the time to understand what you are experiencing so we can create a treatment plan that fits your life, needs, and goals. During your first visit, we will discuss your current concerns, medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, and what you hope to achieve. I explain diagnoses, treatment options, medications, potential benefits, and possible side effects in clear language so you can make informed decisions about your care. My approach is structured, evidence-based, and collaborative. You will not be rushed or pressured. I believe effective mental health care should feel professional and thorough without being cold or intimidating. I am also human, and when appropriate, I may bring a little gentle humor into our sessions. Sometimes a light moment can make difficult conversations feel safer and more manageable. Above all, you will be treated with honesty, compassion, and respect. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable, toward greater stability, clarity, and meaningful improvement in your quality of life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process is structured, clear, and centered on understanding the whole person—not just a list of symptoms. During the initial evaluation, we discuss your current concerns, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatments, medications, daily functioning, and treatment goals. I ask thoughtful questions and listen carefully to understand how your symptoms are affecting your work, relationships, sleep, and overall quality of life. Once I have a clear picture, I explain my diagnostic impressions and review the available treatment options with you. I want you to understand the reasoning behind every recommendation, including medications, lifestyle changes, and supportive strategies. Treatment decisions are made collaboratively, and you will always know what we are doing and what to expect next. Follow-up visits are more focused. We review your response to treatment, discuss benefits or side effects, monitor symptoms, and make adjustments when needed. We also talk about what is improving, what remains challenging, and whether the treatment plan still aligns with your goals. My style is calm, patient, and reassuring. I aim to create a safe and honest environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and speaking openly. When appropriate, I may also bring a little gentle humor into the conversation to help difficult topics feel less intimidating. Throughout our work together, the goal is steady progress toward greater stability, clarity, and meaningful improvement in your quality of life.
