Getting to know Jessica Amigo

Hello, I'm Jessica, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) dedicated to helping adults improve their mental health and overall well-being. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care in both English and Spanish, creating a welcoming space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, mood concerns, difficulty managing emotions, and life transitions. I understand that everyone's experiences are different, and seeking mental health support can sometimes feel overwhelming. My goal is to help you better understand your symptoms, identify your needs, and find a path toward feeling better. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and personalized. I offer medication management alongside therapeutic support when appropriate, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and mental health education. Together, we will explore treatment options and develop a plan that aligns with your individual needs, preferences, and goals. During your first appointment, we'll discuss your concerns, mental health history, daily experiences, and treatment goals. I'll take the time to understand your situation, answer your questions, and help you feel comfortable making informed decisions about your care. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Whether you're seeking support for the first time or looking for a new approach to managing your mental health, I'm here to help. I look forward to working together and supporting you on your journey toward better mental health and well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, collaborative, and straightforward. I want you to feel heard, respected, and comfortable discussing what you’re experiencing. As a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, I provide care that considers your emotional health, physical well-being, relationships, and daily life. I combine evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy when appropriate, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed approaches. Together, we’ll explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck and develop practical tools to manage symptoms and navigate challenges. I explain treatment options clearly and welcome questions so you can make informed decisions about your care. Treatment is personalized to your needs, preferences, and goals. I offer care in English and Spanish.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together begins with an initial psychiatric evaluation where I take the time to understand you, your concerns, and what brings you to care. We will discuss your current symptoms, medical and mental health history, previous treatments, daily routines, and personal goals. This helps me develop a better understanding of your needs and identify appropriate treatment options. Following the evaluation, we will work together to develop an individualized treatment plan based on your symptoms, preferences, and goals. Depending on your needs, treatment may include medication management, therapeutic approaches, coping strategies, and lifestyle recommendations. During follow-up appointments, we will review how you have been feeling, discuss your progress, and address any new concerns. If you are taking medication, we will evaluate its effectiveness, review any side effects, and discuss adjustments when clinically appropriate. We will also work on practical strategies to help you manage symptoms and navigate everyday challenges. Throughout the process, I encourage open communication and welcome your questions. Your treatment plan is not something set in stone; we will regularly review your progress and make changes as needed to ensure your care continues to reflect your needs and goals.
