Getting to know Jessica Chichester

I'm a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with 15 years of experience in the medical field. I began as a bedside RN and earned my Bachelor's degree from Binghamton University, followed by another Bachelor's from the University at Albany. I completed my Master's in Family Health Nursing at Frontier Nursing University and obtained a Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University at Buffalo (South Campus). I became a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015, and after witnessing the mental health challenges of the pandemic, I transitioned to psychiatry in 2021. In my private practice, I'm dedicated to creating a compassionate, supportive space where clients feel heard and empowered on their path to well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, collaborative, and patient-centered. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and supported. During our visits, we’ll explore your concerns and develop a tailored plan that may include medication management and lifestyle adjustments. My goal is to help you find balance, reduce symptoms, and feel empowered in your mental health journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a thorough initial evaluation to understand your concerns, history, and goals. Together, we create a personalized treatment plan, which may include medication management, lifestyle strategies, and ongoing support. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring progress, addressing challenges, and making adjustments as needed to ensure your care remains effective and aligned with your goals. Collaboration and open communication are at the heart of my approach, ensuring you feel supported every step of the way.

Jessica took time to listen to me, asked the right questions to understand me and my situation - then helped me understand options. I felt both listened to but also like I was in the driver seat of my treatment journey.
I’m very pleased with the first appointment I had with Jessica. She is thorough and was happy to follow up with me after my appointment to make sure I understood potential side effects from my medication.
