Getting to know Jessica Faltinowski

Jessica is a seasoned psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 25 years of invaluable healthcare experience and enjoys helping individuals ages 6+ on their journey to improved mental well-being. She earned her Post-Master's Certificate in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Wilkes University. Jessica specializes in a wide range of mental health conditions, including anxiety, addiction, depression, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and ADHD. She uses both therapy and medication to provide personalized mental health care. Her approach blends proven therapy methods with careful medication use to address the various factors contributing to mental health conditions. By combining therapy to target emotional patterns with medication to relieve symptoms, her goal is to support overall well-being and help clients reach their treatment goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I specialize in medication optimization for mental health conditions — helping clients find the most effective approach while minimizing side effects. My practice welcomes both individuals exploring psychiatric medication for the first time and those who've tried previous treatments without achieving the relief they were hoping for. My clinical experience includes major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and treatment-resistant conditions — including cases where multiple prior approaches have fallen short. Your first appointment is devoted to a thorough review of your complete mental health history. We'll go through your past medication trials in detail — what helped, what didn't, and your sense of why — along with your current symptoms and how they're affecting your life, relevant medical conditions, other medications you're taking, and the goals you're hoping to reach. This depth of evaluation allows me to recognize your individual response patterns and tailor every recommendation accordingly. I make it a priority to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you can speak candidly about your experiences and concerns. My approach to medication management is deliberate and methodical. I select medications based on research evidence and your specific characteristics, apply thoughtful dosing strategies, and monitor both effectiveness and tolerability closely — making timely adjustments whenever the clinical picture calls for it. Regular follow-up visits keep your treatment on track, and I remain accessible between appointments for questions that arise. I also coordinate with your other healthcare providers when it benefits your overall care. Clients consistently point to my analytical thoroughness, careful attention to detail, and genuine dedication to finding the right solution as what sets this practice apart.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is built on three principles: comprehensive assessment, patient education, and ongoing collaboration. I believe effective medication management requires both clinical expertise and a strong therapeutic relationship. Your first appointment with me lasts about an hour and covers significant ground. I'll ask about your current symptoms, when they started, and how they're affecting different areas of your life — work, relationships, self-care, and overall functioning. We'll explore your psychiatric history, including previous diagnoses and treatments. I'll review your medical history, current medications, substance use, and family mental health background. I also ask about stressors, support systems, and coping strategies, as these factors play a meaningful role in treatment outcomes. Once I've gathered this information, I'll share my diagnostic impressions and explain what I'm observing in language that's easy to follow. If medication seems appropriate, we'll have a thorough conversation about options. I'll discuss how different medications work, what benefits you might expect, potential side effects, and how long it typically takes to notice improvement. I encourage questions and value your input in treatment decisions. Follow-up appointments, generally 20–30 minutes, happen regularly to monitor your response to medication. We'll assess what's working, troubleshoot challenges, and adjust treatment as needed. I don't expect perfection on the first try — finding the right medication often involves some trial and refinement, and I'm patient and persistent throughout that process. Between sessions, you can message me through our secure portal with questions or concerns. I also work collaboratively with therapists to provide integrated care when appropriate. My ultimate goal is helping you feel better while making sure you understand and feel confident in your treatment every step of the way.

Jessica is very personable, attentive and caring. She listened to my concerns with zero judgement and offered multiple paths for my treatment while weighing the pros and cons of each choice. She is going to work with me on CBT for ADHD next and I'm very excited to continue treatment.
