Jillian Blank, LMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist
CA
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with adults who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck, often during periods of major life change such as relationship shifts, grief, identity transitions, or times when old ways of coping no longer work. Many of my clients also notice patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, or feeling disconnected from themselves while trying to hold everything together. My approach is person-centered and nervous system-informed. This means I focus first on who you are and what you are experiencing in your own way, and we also slow things down to gently notice how your thoughts, emotions, and body are all connected. This helps you understand your patterns more deeply and begin to feel more grounded and regulated from the inside out. My style is collaborative, steady, and non-pressuring. You do not need to have the right words or a clear plan, just a willingness to begin.

This means I focus first on who you are and what you are experiencing in your own way, and we also slow things down to gently notice how your thoughts, emotions, and body are all connected. What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you are used to managing things on your own or taking care of everyone else first. I want you to know you do not need to show up perfectly here. There is room for uncertainty, overwhelm, and not knowing where to start. Many people I work with are high-functioning on the outside but feel anxious, stretched thin, or emotionally exhausted underneath. Others feel caught in patterns like people-pleasing, over-responsibility, or difficulty saying no, which can leave them feeling disconnected from their own needs. In our work together, I take a person-centered and collaborative approach. We move at a pace that feels manageable for you, and you are always in charge of how deep we go. I pay close attention to what feels most supportive for you in each moment, including your emotional and nervous system experience, so the work feels grounded rather than overwhelming.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the beginning, we focus on getting to know you, what is bringing you in, what has been feeling hard, and what you are hoping will feel different. We also gently explore your history and patterns so we can understand the bigger picture together at a pace that feels safe for you. Sessions often include talking through current challenges, noticing emotional patterns, and slowing down enough to observe what is happening internally in real time. As a person-centered therapist, I follow your lead and stay closely attuned to your experience. As a nervous system-informed therapist, I also support you in noticing how emotions and stress show up in your body so you can begin to understand and shift patterns from the inside out. Over time, we work toward recognizing and changing long-standing patterns like anxiety loops, people-pleasing, or emotional overwhelm so you can respond to life with more clarity and choice rather than reactivity. Over time, the goal is to help you feel more grounded in yourself, more trusting of your internal signals, and more supported in your relationships and everyday life.

I love supporting couples in deepening connection and understanding. Because insurance generally does not cover relationship-focused work, couples sessions are offered as a private-pay service. If you’re planning to use insurance, you’re welcome to schedule individual therapy.
