About Dr. Joan Gonzalez
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Joan Gonzalez hails from a proud lineage of military service members, a heritage that instilled in her a deep sense of duty and commitment to serving others. This strong foundation guided her journey into the field of medicine, where she has excelled as a compassionate and dedicated family physician.
Dr. Gonzalez earned her medical degree from St. Matthew's University, where she built a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and patient care. Following medical school, she completed her residency in Family Medicine at Temple University, Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. During her residency, she gained extensive experience treating a diverse patient population and honed her expertise in providing comprehensive healthcare for individuals and families.
After completing her residency, Dr. Gonzalez served in the United States Navy as a Senior Medical Officer and Primary Care Provider. In this role, she oversaw the healthcare needs of 5,000 active-duty service members and their families. Her military background and dedication to healthcare allowed her to thrive in high-pressure environments, ensuring the well-being of those who serve the nation.
Today, Dr. Gonzalez brings her wealth of experience, compassion, and dedication to Annandale Family Medicine. Known for her attentive listening and collaborative approach to patient care, she specializes in preventive medicine, chronic disease management, and empowering patients to take control of their health.
When she’s not at work, Dr. Gonzalez enjoys spending quality time with her husband and family. She is passionate about building lasting relationships with her patients and making a positive impact on their lives.
