In addition to prescribing psychotropic medications, she is trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist. Joanne is passionate about taking an eclectic approach to her practice, believing each person is wonderfully unique and designing treatment plans accordingly. She also became a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor in 1991. Joanne was born and raised in New York City and has been living in Florida since 2003. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Adelphi University and completed her Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at the State University of New York, Stony Brook. During her studies, she completed an internship at the University Counseling Center at Stony Brook University. Joanne has worked in a variety of mental health settings, both inpatient and outpatient, and is board-certified to work with all age groups. While she has experience across the lifespan, she now focuses on adult and geriatric populations. She also has experience as an administrator, having served as Clinical Program Director and Executive Director of the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center in St. Cloud, Florida. Joanne believes in the transformative power of the therapeutic relationship and that through honesty with oneself and a commitment to health, great healing and growth are possible. She holds that through the greatest adversity comes the greatest potential for growth and the manifestation of all we can dream and more!
