More about Dr. Joel Jenné, MD
Dr. Jenné is a board certified orthopaedic spine surgeon who specializes in all conditions related to spinal surgery – degenerative, deformity, traumatic, and tumor involving cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal pathologies. After graduation from the US Air Force Academy in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, he earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1999. In 2004, he completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Orlando, Florida and subsequent subspecialty orthopaedic spine fellowship in Boston at New England Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Jenné served on active duty in the Air Force from 2005 to 2014 in San Antonio, Texas and was actively involved with the Air Force’s only orthopaedic surgery training program. He served as the Associate Program Director, San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium (SAUSHEC) Orthopaedic Surgery Residency program from 2009 to 2013 and is an Assistant Professor of Surgery, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Deployments to Balad, Iraq in 2006 and 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, as well as Bagram, Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom in 2012 have afforded him valuable combat orthopaedic surgery skills for both general orthopaedic and spine related injuries.
Dr. Jenné is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, member of the North American Spine Society, Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons and the San Antonio Orthopaedic Society. He is an active member of the Texas Orthopaedic Association and was co-chairman of the program committee for the 2014 Annual Meeting.
