About Dr. Sean Marx

Dr. Marx is a specialist in treating the shoulder, elbow, and knee. He has expertise in both arthroscopic and open techniques for injuries to ligaments, meniscus, cartilage, rotator cuff, and labrum in addition to shoulder replacement surgery. He enjoys treating patients and athletes of all ages and abilities, working to help them get back to the activities that are most important in their lives. Dr. Marx attended the University of Notre Dame where he obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree before returning closer to home to attend medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He remained at SUNY Upstate to complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery. He continued on in his training to the University of Kentucky for a fellowship in Sports Medicine where he learned and adopted cutting edge techniques in both arthroscopic and open surgical procedures from leading experts in their field. During his training, Dr. Marx worked with and helped athletes of all ages including Division I athletes at Syracuse University, University of Kentucky, and Eastern Kentucky University. When evaluating patients, Dr. Marx believes in taking a comprehensive approach which will include listening closely to patients' concerns, performing a thorough examination, and obtaining tests or imaging when necessary. It is important to him that all patients are treated with the utmost care and compassion. Oftentimes, many of our injuries will be amenable to conservative treatment modalities such as physical therapy, medication, or injections. When pain or dysfunction continues in spite of our best efforts at non-surgical treatment and surgery is indicated, Dr. Marx will be there with you every step of the way. In his free time, Dr. Marx enjoys all things outdoors including skiing, hiking, and biking. He has participated in many triathlons and remains an avid runner where he continues to compete in races from 5K to the marathon.

My 95 year old mom was seen by this Doctor. May have spent 10 minutes with us. She has a displaced shoulder fracture. He reviewed the X-ray disc. Said what we already knew and gave us no recommendations. Waste of time. The ER recommended for my mom to see an orthopedic doctor. It’s was like hearing what the ER doctor communicated to us.

I will never use anyone else again. From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with a friendly smile and attended to very promptly. I filled out some paperwork on a device that very user friendly. Dr. Marx's staff in the back were giving off the same vibe, super helpful and friendly. It was by far the best doctor experience I've ever had. Definitely will recommend x10, as well as go back should I need to in the future.
