Johanna "JJ" Monro, DNP, CNM, RN, is a certified nurse midwife who co-leads The Mount Sinai Hospital’s Delancey Street Midwifery practice. In this role, Ms. Monro provides comprehensive reproductive health care to patients, including general gynecologic, obstetric, postpartum, and menopause care.
Ms. Monro’s interest in reproductive health began in college at Fordham University, where she volunteered as a health educator in the New York City public school system. Following college, she became a volunteer for Mount Sinai’s Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention (SAVI) program, advocating for survivors in the emergency room for immediate crisis intervention. She then served as a research coordinator for The Mount Sinai Hospital’s Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Ms. Monro earned her Master of Science in Nursing Midwifery from Columbia University School of Nursing in 2021 and completed her Doctorate in Nurse-Midwifery at Columbia University School of Nursing in 2023. She previously served Mount Sinai as a Registered Nurse on the Labor and Delivery Unit, providing patient-centered care through all stages of birth and collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team to deliver timely, need-based care.
Actively involved in research, Ms. Monro’s interests include providing reproductive health care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and survivors of sexual assault.
She is an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Had an amazing experience with JJ! Was seen immediately upon arrival and was given time to discuss anything I wanted and ask any questions I had. She was very attentive and went above and beyond to address my concerns. Extremely quick and gentle pap as well!
