About Dr. John Adams
John Adams, M.D., is a seasoned internal medicine physician with over 20 years of clinical experience. He further enriched his training by completing the advanced verification program at the Institute of Functional Medicine. Dr. Adams specializes in primary care medicine and brings a highly customized, integrative, and systems-based approach to patient care. He is a skilled clinical diagnostician with a comprehensive approach to prevention, management, and treatment of disease.
Dr. Adams earned his B.S. in biology from the University of Richmond, Virginia, and his Doctor of Medicine from St. George's University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical System and spent three years as an emergency room physician in Baltimore before moving to New York City in 2005. He was an attending physician with the New York Dermatology Group for almost 18 years as the group's Internal Medicine physician. He served as Medical Director for NYDG/Integrative Health and Wellness Center, guiding the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic. He has served on medical advisory boards, including Gilead Pharmaceuticals, for the development and implementation of PrEP in HIV prevention. He remains active in the LGBT community and is skilled in early diagnosis and treatment of sexual health issues. He has been a clinical investigator in multiple pharmaceutical trials for psoriasis and antiviral treatments. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals related to wound healing, repair, and collagen formation.
