About Dr. John Kannengieser
Our goal at Island Foot & Ankle is to provide you with quality, timely, and cost-effective healthcare in a pleasant, professional, and patient-focused environment. Our physicians and my staff work together as a team to bring you the highest quality treatment in a warm and caring setting. At our practice, the patient is our primary concern, and we pride ourselves on providing personal and friendly care. We are dedicated to healing and fully educating you about your foot and ankle health needs.
John Kannengieser, DPM, is board certified by The American Board of Podiatric Medicine. He proudly serves patients at Island Foot & Ankle locations in Riverhead, Wading River, and West Islip, New York.
Dr. Kannengieser also serves to educate future podiatrists by participating as the Associate Residency Director for the Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center Podiatric Medicine and Surgical Residency Program.
A native of Long Island, Dr. Kannengieser earned his undergraduate degree at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Kannengieser completed his residency in podiatric surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, West Islip, NY. During his residency training, he specialized in trauma, limb salvage, and elective foot and ankle surgery.
He’s an expert in podiatric care and regularly treats a range of conditions affecting the foot and ankle. From routine foot care to treating complicated fractures, patients of all ages trust Dr. Kannengieser.

Islnd Foot and Ankle is a very professional office. The staff was very nice and helpful. Dr. John Kannengieser was outstanding in diagnosing my problem and checking my feet. He has a very pleasant manner. He took his time in describing what he was doing.
I would highly recommend him and this practice.
