Psychiatrist
274 Madison Ave, Rm 1501, New York, NY
*After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ so you can complete required intake forms prior to your appointment* I am a board-certified psychiatrist with training rooted in both academic rigor and compassionate, whole-person care. I earned my medical degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, completed my residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital, and pursued a fellowship at Silver Hill Hospital, where I worked intensively with individuals navigating personality disorders. My clinical background includes group therapy facilitation, interdisciplinary supervision, and comprehensive psychiatric care across a range of diagnoses. My approach is centered around understanding the person behind the symptoms. I draw from intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP), which focuses on helping patients access and process deep emotional experiences to relieve symptoms, and mentalizing-based therapy (MBT), which supports people in understanding their own and others' mental states, especially useful in interpersonal struggles and personality disorders. I also incorporate elements of psychodynamic therapy, aiming to explore underlying emotional conflicts that influence current behaviors and relationships. Above all, I believe care should be both high-quality and accessible. I'm passionate about building meaningful therapeutic relationships where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I aim to create a space where you feel we are collaborating from day one. I believe good treatment is guided by your motivation and curiosity, and therapy should be an active process we shape together. Whether we are considering therapy alone, medications, or a combination of both, my role is to help you explore what feels aligned and effective for you. My patients often come to me with symptoms broadly categorized as depression or anxiety—feelings of disconnection, low mood, intense self-criticism, relationship challenges, or unmanageable stress. Together, we work toward a shared understanding of those symptoms and develop a personalized plan based on both immediate needs and long-term goals. I prioritize open communication and flexibility. Misunderstandings can happen in any relationship, and I value the opportunity to navigate them with openness and respect. My hope is that patients feel seen, supported, and confident that their care is grounded in both science and empathy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work begins with a comprehensive evaluation to understand your full picture—your current concerns, personal history, strengths, and what you're hoping to change. From there, we decide together what kind of care is most appropriate. Some patients benefit from psychotherapy alone; others may want to explore medication support or a combination of both. We'll revisit your care plan regularly to adjust based on your experience and progress. Sessions are conversational and centered on what matters most to you. With ISTDP, we may look closely at the moment-to-moment experience of emotion to unlock stuck patterns. With MBT, we explore how thoughts and feelings affect your behavior and relationships, with a focus on strengthening self-awareness and empathy. I strive to make sessions feel grounded and focused—where insight leads to change, and you feel empowered by the direction we take together. Outside of work, I unwind through music, which helps me stay balanced—a value I also bring into my clinical work. I believe mental health care should reflect the full complexity of being human, and my goal is always to meet you where you are and move forward with clarity and intention.
