About Dr. John S Walczyk
Dr. Walczyk is a board-certified dermatologist at Schweiger Dermatology Group.
He has decades of experience treating patients of all ages with a personalized and educational approach to dermatologic care. Known for his family-oriented style and emphasis on doctor–patient connection, Dr. Walczyk helps patients understand their skin conditions while providing expert diagnosis and treatment. He often relates to patients through shared life experiences and is proud to be regarded as their family dermatologist.
Dr. Walczyk graduated summa cum laude from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Science in 1985. He then conducted research before earning his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University. He completed his internal medicine internship at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, followed by a dermatology residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he served as chief resident in the St. Luke’s Division during his final year.
He was board certified by the American Board of Dermatology in 1994 and maintains certification through recertification. Dr. Walczyk has long been active in medical education and has held academic appointments at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, first as an instructor in clinical dermatology and currently as an associate in clinical dermatology, where he teaches dermatology residents.
Throughout his career, he has been affiliated with Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Plainview, and previously with Winthrop University Hospital. He established his own practice, Manhasset Dermatology, in 2001.

Dr. Walczyk carefully listened to my not entirely clear problems after a vascular surgery. He understood my situation very well and explained the difference between truly important health issues and the discomforts that are unavoidable but can at least be eased. I had chafing in the groin and surrounding areas. He prescribed soothing treatments that worked immediately. I can only regret that I didn’t think to see a dermatologist earlier and didn’t find him right after the surgery, as I suffered unnecessarily for three weeks with discomfort in sensitive areas. A friendly, kind doctor with a calm sense of humor. Recently, unfortunately, I’ve had many medical visits with different specialists, but this one left me with the best impression. Marcin S.
