About Dr. John Timothy Harlan
Dr. Harlan began his practice in Phoenix in 1996. He has been the Founder and Medical Director of Phoenix Foot & Ankle for the past 27 years. Dr. Harlan is a Diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is Board Certified by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons in Foot and Ankle Surgery, as well as in Rear Foot and Ankle Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the Arizona Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Harlan is past Chief of Podiatry Section, Department of Orthopedics at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix. Dr. Harlan is an Adjunct Professor at the Podiatry School at Midwestern University, Attending Physician at Carl T. Hayden VA Medical Center, and a Clinical Attending Physician at Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance Podiatry Residency.
Phoenix Magazine named Dr. Harlan a Top Doctor 18 times and he has been the top vote getter twice.
He received his Bachelor of Art in Biology from the University of San Diego. While there he played inter-collegiate football, earning a starting position his freshmen year. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Pharmacology from the University of Arizona. He is a graduate of the California College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his surgical residency at Kaiser Hospital in Santa Clara, California as Chief Resident. He specializes in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, trauma, and sports injuries. His practice also includes comprehensive and personalized treatment for a wide variety of foot and ankle problems.
Dr. Harlan spends his free time participating in activities involving his wife, family, and friends. His summer passions include mountain biking and fly fishing. With family, his winters are spent on the ski slopes of Colorado or anywhere else the powder is good.
