Getting to know Dr. Johnny Lops
Please note all sessions are virtual during this time. Expert therapist for the hit reality series *Married At First Sight*, former team psychiatrist for the Brooklyn Nets, and author of the self-help book *Reinvent Yourself: Essential Tools From a Brooklyn Psychiatrist Who Has Seen It All, Dr. Lops is known as a "therapist's psychiatrist." He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Hofstra University. He is Board Certified in Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
All clients, children through adults, can benefit from therapy because we all have the ability to gain from further tool-building or support. Dr. Lops recognizes that upon initial assessment, symptoms of anxiety, depression, or ADHD/disruptive behaviors may be significant enough that a trial of medication can be beneficial to do "the work." An expert in pharmacology, he also uses genetic testing in his practice to assess for adverse effects in patients with a history of medication sensitivity.
Dr. Lops evaluates the role of cognitive restructuring, mindfulness work, parent training, and executive functioning deficits in his clients, while also acknowledging significant psychosocial stressors that may benefit from exploration or support. Furthermore, factors such as exercise, diet, hormones, and breathing techniques play an important role in the therapeutic process.

If you're looking for an immediate prescription, he's the guy for you. Though I think he could have spent more time with me and gotten to know me a little better before just giving my two serious prescriptions right off the bat. Decided to look elsewhere

Before I saw Dr. Lops, I was heeling from anxiety and was having trouble living life because of my mood disorder. Within weeks Dr. Lops' treatment had me feeling better than I had in years, and I cant thank him enough for his time and help.

He took the time to call right after I set the appointment to make sure he would be a good fit for me which I thought was great and being my first time visithing a psychiatrist he made me feel very comfortable.
