About Dr. Jonathan B. Ticker
Jonathan B. Ticker, M.D., is a board-certified and fellowship-trained shoulder and sports medicine specialist who treats both nonoperative and operative conditions of the shoulder. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, completed his internship and residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Medical Center, and pursued a fellowship in Sports Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. When shoulder surgery is required, he focuses on minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures to aid in the return of function.
An accomplished medical researcher and author of over 40 publications regarding the shoulder, Dr. Ticker is a lecturer for various international and national courses, including those of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, Turkish Shoulder and Elbow Society, and Japanese Shoulder Society. He has served as an orthopedic and sports medicine adviser to numerous professional, collegiate, and youth athletic teams.
Dr. Ticker has been Chair of the Medical Committee for the 2002 and 2009 USGA Open Championships and the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black. He also served on the medical staff for players in the PGA Tour FedEx Event, The Barclay’s at Bethpage Black Course in 2001, and on national teams’ medical staff for the United States Soccer Federation, including FIFA Men’s and Women’s World Cup events.
He has edited or co-edited four books regarding the shoulder, three of which highlight open and minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques to treat shoulder problems that do not respond to nonsurgical measures. His most recent book details advanced minimally invasive arthroscopic methods.

The staff at Orlin and Cohen were very friendly and efficient. All the prefilled ZocDoc forms were accepted, so all they needed from me was my copay. I arrived 30 early and they got me in well before my original appointment, getting me through all the prework and scans needed. Doctor Ticket came in shortly after my scans were done, performed the exam gently (due to the pain) and was able to diagnose quickly. He explained everything in terms I was able to easily understand and ensured we are taking the least invasive approach, asking if I was comfortable with each recommended treatment, answering all my questions.
I highly recommend Orlin and Cohen and especially Doctor Ticker for shoulder issues.

Dr. Jonathan Ticker is pleasant and has a nice sense of humor so he makes you feel relaxed right away. He showed me my MRI results on a screen and viewing it together he explained clearly every part of my injury. He patiently answered all my questions. There was no rush. He is direct and to the point. He created a plan of action that left me feeling confident and much less worried than I had been. I am very certain I am in good hands.

I was dubious about seeing an Orlin and Cohen Physician, based on my experience years ago. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience. The Merrick office was clean and not overpacked with patients. Doing the paperwork online made the experience pleasant. The wait was very reasonable. The staff was really pleasant, and extra helpful. I saw the doctor I had scheduled to see. The physician was very knowledgeable and I am very happy with the treatment plan. I am already feeling a lot better.
