Dr. Jonathan Kung studied Biology and Exercise Biology as an undergraduate at the University of California, Davis. He has known for some time as a young adult that he wanted to become a physician. This pursuit was further solidified in the summer before his final year of college in 2006 when he had the privilege to join a medical mission to Guatemala. Jonathan shares, “I found a pure joy in meeting new people and hearing their stories, helping others, and contributing to the art of healing.”
Jonathan earned his Doctor of Medicine from St. George's University School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 2015. Following this, he completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of California, San Francisco, Fresno Medical Education Program in 2018. Finally, he completed a fellowship in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 2019. Jonathan then spent a year practicing Gastroenterology with The Permanente Medical Group in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving back to where his heart was-New York City!
Jonathan finds the specialty of Gastroenterology fascinating as it encompasses the entire body from mouth to colon. The close relationship between gastroenterologic-specific organs and all other systems of the body is very unique. He also appreciates the key role of a gastroenterologist in preventing, diagnosing, and treating cancer early.
Jonathan says, “I take pride in creating a comfortable and long-term trusting relationship with all my patients, with the goal to resolve any gastrointestinal disturbances to the best of my abilities while maintaining an environment where patients have full understanding of the diagnosis, thought process of evaluation, and reasons for treatment.”

The staff was very nice but not engaging. The wait time was longer than expected but no more unusal than any other office visit. The doctor was amazing, but unfortuately didnt even example me. He ask me one question and i could even finish it before he started telling me i needed to see another doctor and gave me all over the counter suggestions (that I could have googled myself). I felt deflated, no resolution or support and they said the office wouldn't even help me with the referral they suggested. I had to do it all myself. No real customer service or support post visit.

Dr. Kung is amazing! He is so helpful and thorough, while also being extremely proactive and efficient. I never have to wait long, and he always listens and addresses all of my concerns. He is highly responsive and is strategic in tackling any symptoms or issues you are having. So glad I found him!
