A graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical School and Adult Psychiatry Program as well as the Johns Hopkins University Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship, Dr. Shepherd blends professionalism and compassion to create healthier communities. Dr. Shepherd is currently employed as the Chief Clinical Officer for the Department of Behavioral Health for the entire District of Columbia. Through this office, he is responsible for the development, management, and oversight of the public behavioral health system for adults, children, and their families that is consumer driven, community-based, and culturally competent and supports prevention, resiliency, and recovery and the overall well-being of the District of Columbia. Prior to working within the District, Dr. Shepherd was employed with Hope Health Systems, INC. headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland for 12 years and served as its Chief Medical Director. Dr. Shepherd serves on numerous boards and participates in several organizations that impact and shape the programs for the mental well-being of persons in diverse settings and various communities.
