Getting to know Jonathan Shimron
I became a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner because I believe that mental health care should feel personal, compassionate, and judgment-free. Reaching out for help can be difficult, and I want my patients to feel comfortable being honest about what they are experiencing and confident that they will be heard.
My approach is centered around getting to know the person behind the diagnosis. I take the time to listen, understand your concerns, and learn how your symptoms are affecting your daily life, relationships, work, and overall well-being. From there, we work together to create a treatment plan that feels realistic and meaningful to you.
I provide individualized psychiatric evaluations and medication management for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, and other mental health conditions. I believe treatment is most effective when it is a collaborative process, and I welcome questions and open conversations about your options.
My goal is not simply to treat symptoms, but to help you better understand yourself, feel more balanced, and move toward the life you want to live. Wherever you are in your mental health journey, I am here to meet you where you are and support you along the way.
What should a new client know about working with you?
A new client should know that I value creating a comfortable, judgment-free space where you can truly be yourself. You do not need to have everything figured out before coming in, and there is no expectation that you know exactly what diagnosis or treatment you need.
Our first visit is an opportunity for me to get to know you, understand what brought you in, and learn about your goals, concerns, and experiences. I believe in listening first and making treatment decisions together rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
I encourage my clients to ask questions, share their preferences, and be open about what is and isn’t working. Whether treatment involves medication, lifestyle changes, additional support, or simply taking time to better understand what you’re experiencing, we will move at a pace that feels appropriate and comfortable.
Most importantly, I want you to feel that you have a partner in your care. My goal is to build a trusting relationship where you feel heard, respected, and supported throughout your mental health journey.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My process begins with listening and getting to know you as a whole person. During our initial appointment, we’ll talk about what brought you in, your current concerns, your mental health history, and how things are affecting your day-to-day life. I also want to understand your goals and what you hope to get out of treatment.
From there, we’ll work together to develop an individualized treatment plan. If medication is appropriate, I’ll explain the options, including potential benefits and side effects, so that you can make an informed decision about your care. I believe treatment should be collaborative, not something that is simply done to you.
Follow-up visits are an opportunity to check in on how you’re doing, discuss any changes or challenges, and make adjustments when needed. I encourage open communication and honest feedback throughout the process.
Every person’s journey is different, so I try to meet my clients where they are and provide care that is thoughtful, practical, and tailored to their individual needs.
