Getting to know Joni Whetzel

Welcome to your fresh start! Take a deep breath because the hardest part is over—you are here! Hi! I’m Joni, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master’s in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Walden University. That means I can provide you medication management and therapy to help with whatever is making your life balance not quite what you want it to be. If you are feeling lost and misunderstood in the traditional mental health provider’s setting, I invite you to share your thoughts and situation with me. Working together, with both traditional and alternative therapies and medications, we can build you a productive, safe, and enjoyable life. I believe in holistic healing. With a mix of spirituality, the right medications, or perhaps just finding the right work/school/life balance through self-care, I will help you return to “the real you.” As a Christian, I believe in the power of prayer—but if that’s not your thing, I can help you with other forms of mindfulness and meditation. I specialize in helping people of all ages with ADD/ADHD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, trauma and grief recovery, as well as psychotic disorders. I’m always learning new evidence-based innovations to give you access to the latest research available, but I’m not hesitant to refer you to additional resources if I can’t provide what you need. I look forward to helping you rediscover joy and balance in life :)

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Joni never showed to my original appointment, the appointment was rescheduled for me without my request for later the same day and Joni never showed to that appointment either.
I have had many Mental health providers, It's usually the same thing, the same treatment, the same meds. Even when I have been very vocal about when they worked and when that didn't. Eventually the same 2-3 medications have been represcribed everytime & I've been open that I do not feel a difference anymore. I was in a circle of starting the meds because I was told they would work it just takes time. I would stop after a few months because they weren't working and then stopping treatment because it wasn't helping. I went into my visit with Joni expecting to atleast be started on the same 3 meds at first but hoping that when they didn't work, she would help me find medications that would. However, she listened! She made me feel validated, heard and feeling like she won't stop until i am better. She is completely rerouting my care and assured me she will help me find what is going to actually help. She is amazing. I have found my forever COMPLETE Mental health practitioner & partner
