Getting to know Dr. Jose Arvizu

I am a Brown University-trained psychiatrist with expertise in psychopharmacology and different types of psychotherapy, I completed a fellowship in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute and am Board Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at NYU Langone Medical Center, and I have had prior affiliations with other Universities: Brown and Columbia. By maintaining this academic involvement, I am able to stay up to date in this rapidly evolving field. I have vast experience treating adults with a wide variety of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, personality disorders. *Please note that I do not take any insurance, private pay only. No credit cards accepted. **Also, I will confirm your appointment ONLY after we speak briefly on the phone when you schedule an appointment with me. Please make sure that your contact information is up to date. Most patients benefit from psychotherapy, some require medication. By providing both, I can offer optimal care. My goal is to always work together with my patients to tailor their treatment and improve their mental health, well-being and ability to make the most of life. My office is conveniently located in Midtown Manhattan (Bryant Park/Grand Central). I also offer treatment for individuals in Spanish.

    Dr. Arvizu is a compassionate and caring doctor. He is very insightful and thoughtful. His therapy sessions have been invaluable.
    Dr. Arvizu, Is a wonderful doctor. You can tell he deeply cares for the well being of his patients. He also very knowledgeable, as well as empathic. It's aways a bit difficult opening up about one's own struggles, but I find that Dr. Arvizu is easy to speak with and that he is engaged in conversation . I also never feel rushed and come away from appointments feeling more at ease. I honestly have never felt better.
    Dr. Arvizu is a kind, insightful, and sharp physician. His care has significantly improved my life, and he is very responsive to all of my questions and concerns at any time. I highly recommend him.
