Getting to know Jose Desmarais
Josie Desmarais is a board-certified Primary Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida who has cared for and treated severely mentally ill patients in inpatient, outpatient, and correctional settings. She effectively collaborates with other mental health professionals to ensure that patients with a variety of ailments, ranging from schizophrenia to substance abuse, are able to live as productively as possible. Josie earned her Bachelor's degree from Barry University, her Master's in Adult-Gerontology Nursing from South University, and her Post-Master's Certificate in Primary Mental Health Nursing from Wilkes University. She also completed a residency at the State Correctional Institution of Muncy in Muncy, Pennsylvania.

Despite having some of the most advanced medical care in the world, social stigma still surrounds psychiatric problems. This, combined with a lack of understanding and limited access to mental health services, perpetuates a national mental health crisis affecting those in need and their families. To meet these challenges, Josie Desmarais, PMHNP, has joined Sincere Psychiatry Services to offer insights and treatment for a variety of psychiatric conditions, including:

What should a new client know about working with you?
Josie believes in the power of communication and relationships. She provides a safe, non-judgmental and open space for patients to get closer to their values and living that life they deserve by getting to know them and providing them with the right non-pharmacological and/or pharmacological treatment.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Once you reach out, I will get in touch with you within 24 hours. My style is warm, compassionate, patience, innately curious and hope to create a space where your most authentic self is heard and seen. I deeply believe int he mind/body connection and that the more we can build the bridge between the two, the more coping, acceptance and compassion we can offer ourselves.

Cancellations/Rescheduling & Late Arrival Policy
We understand that sometimes a patient may not be able to keep their appointment, either
remotely or face to face. We ask that if you cannot make your scheduled appointment and have
previously "confirmed" your appointment with a Sincere Psychiatry staff member, please notify the
office no less than 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time. Please note that out
of fairness to our staff and other Patients, we have implemented the following procedures:
First time - "No Show" or "Same Day Cancellation" and subsequent missed appointments -
including if you do not show for a confirmed appointment or give timely notice of cancellation or
your need for rescheduling - Our office will contact you to notify you that you have missed your
appointment failed to provide timely notice. In addition, we will remind you that a second and/or
subsequent "No Show" or "Same Day Cancellation" will result in a financial penalty as well as to
discuss if you wish to make a new appointment at a more convenient day and time if you have not
already done so with our office.
Second - "No Show" or "Same Day Cancellation" and subsequent missed appointments - you will
be charged a $70.00 "No Show" or "Same Day Cancelation" fee. It is a Fee to you, as Insurance
companies do not pay for missed appointments.
Late arrival - your specific appointment time may be forfeited if you arrive late for your scheduled
appointment.
This policy may not apply to Neurofeedback patients based on their individual health
circumstances.
Please confirm with office personnel of your situation as you begin treatment and discuss this
policy with
a Sincere Psychiatry staff member.
Definitions
Sincere Psychiatry defines a "No Show" as any patient who fails to arrive for a scheduled
appointment.
"Same Day Cancellation" shall mean any patient who cancels an appointment less than 24 hours
before their scheduled appointment.

Most importantly, as a patient I felt not only seen but heard. I felt safe telling Dr. Josie about different thoughts and behaviors I was having and was impressed how she “got” me and said she could help. She sumed up our session with a positive directive. Josie has been absolutely amazing these last few months. I always wait until the very last minute to do things (I finally know why now!) and Josie always accommodates for me. She fits me in whenever she can, even if it's late or during a holiday weekend. She calls around to make sure I get my medication if the pharmacy is out. And most importantly, she makes me smile. For the first time in my life, I've found a therapist who I feel understands me and that I actually like talking to instead of it being a chore. I've been able to turn my life around and get my head on straight and I'm so so thankful to Josie for that! I highly recommend her, I can't say it enough!
