Dr. V was very easy to work with. For the most part I am already familiar with what works for me and he was very respectful of that and was very knowledgeable when it came time for a change or adjustment. My treatment with Dr. V felt collaborative
I saw Dr. Villaluz for over a year and unfortunately, I did feel like he was listening to me and my concerns with my medications. I switched psychiatrists to someone who really dove deep with me, got me further testing to see how my body metabolized and have made huge improvements. I unfortunately really do not recommend him - I did not find him helpful and really gave it time.
Dr Villaluz may be the best doctor for you given your insurance and how easily he prescribes but I've found him incredibly frustrating. His knowledge of how drugs works is limited, he's not able answer complex questions and has a way of dismissing any points you've brought up while asserting claims without offering much evidence. He insists on monthly appointments for refills on controlled substances, even though these appointments usually last less than ten minutes you're still charged for them. He forgets basic details about me, not just things like my work and life situation but medically relevant details like the strength of your prescription, when it was last filled and what your insurance does and doesn't cover. If psychiatric medicine were available without a prescription, I would have no reason to see him at all. I'd be better off spending the time googling. It's relatively easy to get him to prescribe you the meds you want but the help he offers for any problems with medication isn't much more sophisticated than common sense.
Dr. Villaluz was very thorough but fast. He listened carefully and I was able to trust him right away. He didn’t just put me on medication but really listened to my concerns about health Andy past.
I came in for a consultation and his demeanor and approach was so cold and distant. In the beginning after he told me his hours (3 days a week, 9:30-6), I had expressed to him that it would be difficult with my work schedule and I guess my initial hesitation made him lackadaisical to the consultation. There were a lot of condescending comments from him loaded with jargon and when the session ended I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Hate to be this person but his zipcode matches his attitude.
Dr.Villaluz is a great doctor his focus is working with you to assure your mind and health are good. He is a great listener and pays attention to detail. I highly recommend him.
I was Dr. Villaluz's patient for over a year, from March 2018 to May 2019, and would have continued to see him if my health insurance did not change. He managed my prescriptions for anxiety and depression and dutifully monitored my reactions to different medications until we found the prescription/dosage that worked best for me. I dealt with many significant life changes during my time as his patient and was able to overcome these challenges due to his excellent work as a psychiatrist. I was impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail, as well as his efficient management of his schedule. He was understanding and flexible about rescheduling our appointments when I was sick or overwhelmed with graduate school, and I made sure not to take this for granted. I appreciate his hard work and thoughtfulness as a doctor and would recommend him to other patients who are seeking the same.
Distant and uninterested .

This is my first time to see a psychiatrist. Dr. Villaluz's office is very welcoming. He made me feel very comfortable that I was able to address all my concerns. At the end of a very through evaluation, he gave me his diagnosis and recommendations including options for treatment aside from medications. He explained to me very well the benefits of treatment with medications as well as therapy. I will continue to work with him as I trust his expertise. I understand that this is a private practice. In case there's a change in my insurance coverage, it's my responsibility to inform him to avoid disruption of treatment.
I visited Dr. Villaluz regularly for a few years, until he abruptly ended my treatment and our appointments with absolutely no warning. In our final visit, he told me there was a temporary issue that meant he couldn't take my insurance, but assured me that it would be quickly resolved. I never heard from him again. He never reached out to let me know that the issue couldn't be resolved and I needed to find another psychiatrist. I didn't even notice a problem until my medicine had run out. Luckily I found a new doctor on ZocDoc quickly. When I called him to learn what had happened, he took no responsibility for the interruption in my healthcare, and did not suggest any solutions for continuing my treatment. When I was still seeing him, the experience was acceptable for my particular case but was never stellar. Every visit felt like the first one - he never remembered things, so I had to explain the same core symptoms/histories over and over. In each visit, he clearly just checked off a few boxes before writing me another script and swiping my credit card. My medication was fairly simple, so this was mostly fine for me, but if you've got a complex or evolving medical situation, please go elsewhere. I would not trust Dr. Villaluz to study your case, or even notice trends over time.
Very Professional and knowledgeable.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Villaluz for almost six months now and the difference in my overall well being is night and day. He’s organized, kind, and thorough. Our appointments are always on time and his office is peaceful in a lovely building.
