About Dr. Joseph Clayton Finley Jr.
Dr. Finley focuses on recently developed minimally invasive surgical approaches that offer the patient a minimum of downtime and a rapid return to their usual life. Dr. Finley has extensive experience in the treatment of nasal and sinus disease and has a special interest in sinus headache. Dr. Finley was one of the first surgeons in New York City to become trained and use the new ENT-specific Medrobotics robotic surgical system. Dr. Finley treats all ages and offers a wide range of ENT services ranging from cosmetic Botox injection to complex surgeries. Dr. Finley also has a special interest in surgery for snoring and sleep apnea and works closely with the state-of-the-art Center for Sleep Medicine that recently opened at Lenox Hill hospital. Dr. Finley has several active research studies related to the treatment of laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (acid reflux to the throat) and offers placement of the innovative Restech device for assessment of this condition.
Dr. Finley attended undergraduate at Duke University, went to medical school at Emory University, and completed his training in otolaryngology at Naval Medical Center San Diego. While in the Navy, Dr. Finley was president of the medical staff and sat on the board of directors for a large medical organization for many years. Dr. Finley is a board certified fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and a diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology. He speaks English and French.

I would have liked Dr. Finley to listen to my concerns more. The experience seemed rushed. There was a greater focus on documenting. He did not stop to confirm my name to ensure I was the right patient. I do plan on returning as the experience was not the worst, but I hope to see better bedside manner and more focus on the patient concern.

Dr. Finley did one of the most thorough intakes and was genuinely interested to understand the issues I was having. He took the time to explain what was going on, and even used a diagnostic tool to show me on the screen in realtime where I was having issues in my nose. Stellar bedside manner and truly caring. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My visit with DrFinley was excellent. He knew what my condition was when other doctors did not which was amazing. And he is very friendly . Some doctors are like androids but Dr Finley listened to my explanations and heard my answers. And he was very polite about my nonsensical medical theories that I had invented. Then he explained what was really the problem- so clever! I highly recommend him.
