Getting to know Joseph Han

** Please note: I am currently accepting new patients for an initial psychiatric consultation and comprehensive evaluation. At this time, I am not accepting new therapy-only patients. The initial appointment is a consultative evaluation focused on diagnostic clarification and individualized treatment recommendations. This visit is intended to better understand your concerns, review your history, and discuss potential treatment options. It does not guarantee that medication will be recommended or prescribed, nor does it, by itself, establish an ongoing treatment relationship. Ongoing care, if appropriate, is determined after the evaluation based on clinical needs, treatment fit, and mutual agreement ** Whether you're considering medication for the first time or seeking a more personalized approach to treatment, I appreciate your consideration of my practice. Mental health can be complicated, and there is rarely a one-size-fits-all answer. Meaningful change often requires patience, thoughtfulness, and a willingness to understand the bigger picture.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a provider, my goal is to hear your concerns and understand what matters most to you. As we think through diagnosis, medication, therapy, and treatment options together, I believe the most important starting point is understanding you as a whole person. Initial appointments are comprehensive psychiatric evaluations that serve as an initial consultation to better understand your concerns, formulate diagnostic impressions, develop personalized treatment recommendations, and provide an opportunity for both patient and provider to determine whether an ongoing treatment relationship would be the right fit. The purpose of the initial evaluation is to provide a thoughtful clinical assessment and individualized treatment recommendations. Completion of the evaluation does not, by itself, establish an ongoing treatment relationship or guarantee any particular treatment plan, including medication. My practice emphasizes psychotherapy-informed psychiatric care, drawing primarily from Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles. I have a special interest in Asian and Asian American mental health and offer faith-integrated Christian psychiatric care for those who desire it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you schedule an appointment, please contact my office within 24 hours (or respond to our outreach) so we can complete the onboarding process and answer any initial questions. You will receive instructions by email regarding intake forms, practice policies, insurance verification, and preparing for your evaluation. Incomplete paperwork may require your appointment to be rescheduled. Completing these steps before your appointment allows us to focus our time together on understanding your concerns and developing thoughtful treatment recommendations.
