About Dr. Joseph Rosenbaum
Dr. Rosenbaum is both a surgeon and lifelong athlete. Having played baseball at the NCAA and professional levels, he brings discipline, teamwork, and pursuit of excellence into his medical practice. An avid runner, hiker, and cyclist, he understands firsthand how essential hands are, driving his commitment to restoring function and helping patients return to the activities they love.
A Bergen County native, Dr. Rosenbaum earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and is fellowship-trained in all aspects of hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow surgery. He is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery and Hand Surgery and serves as Clinical Director of Hand Surgery at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ.
He completed an orthopedic surgery internship at SUNY Downstate and Kings County Hospitals, a residency at Ohio State University—ranking in the top 1% nationally for hand, wrist, and forearm cases—and fellowship training at the Mary S. Stern Hand Surgery Fellowship in Cincinnati, gaining expertise in fractures, complex trauma, arthritis, arthroscopy, tendon injuries, wide-awake surgery, microvascular techniques, and minimally painful injections.
Dr. Rosenbaum has contributed significantly to academic medicine, publishing nine textbook chapters, five journal articles—including on athletic hand injuries—and producing ten surgical technique videos presented at national meetings, earning the top prize at the 2019 AAOS Orthopedic Video Theater.
He has a special interest in athletic hand and elbow injuries, treating patients from recreational athletes to NCAA, NFL, NHL, and Olympic competitors.
Outside of medicine, he lives in Bergen County with his wife and three children and remains active as a runner, cyclist, snowboarder, and baseball player, enjoying outdoor time with his family at the Jersey Shore and on local hiking trails.
