Following graduation from Notre Dame Bishope Gibbons High School, he attended Northwestern University where he earned an undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering in 1982. He was commissioned as a Line Officer through the Naval ROTC Scholarship Program. Applying for a transfer to the Medical Corps, he was accepted to the Uniform Services University of the Health Science, F. Edward Herbert School of Medicine, and graduated with a Medical Degree in 1995. He completed a Transitional Internship at the National Naval Medical Center. In 2000, he was accepted to the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency Program at Uniform Services University. He received a Master of Public Health degree in 2001 and completed residency training in 2002. Dr. Thomas was board certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine by the American College of Preventive Medicine in January 2003. His experience with Federal Workers Compensation started in 2002 when he served as the Department Head of Occupational Medicine at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. He is currently treating federal workers compensation in Tampa at M & R Medical & Therapy Center and is currently the Medical Director for CompMed Cares in Jacksonville, Florida. Currently, he is engaged in occupational medicine consulting and treats injured OWCP / DOL injured federal workers for federal workers compensation, DOT physicals, drug screens and Occupational Medicine at M&R Medical & Therapy Center.
