Getting to know Dr. Josephine Tafie

****Disclaimer: If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please contact the office in advance to cancel or reschedule so we can better accommodate scheduling needs. For safety and regulatory reasons, patients prescribed controlled substances are required to attend in-office visits, and a six-month provider–patient relationship is required before I issue any formal medical documentation. **** As a psychiatric provider, my mission is to deliver compassionate, evidence-based mental health care that supports individuals in achieving balance, stability, and confidence in their daily lives. I offer both in-office and telehealth appointments to provide flexible access to care. I offer several advanced clinical services, including Qb Testing for ADHD diagnostic confirmation, GeneSight pharmacogenomic testing to guide personalized medication selection, and Spravato (esketamine) therapy for individuals with treatment-resistant depression. Every treatment plan is tailored to the patient’s unique needs, ensuring thoughtful and individualized care. My clinical specialties include Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, and a wide range of other mental health conditions. I work with children from 6 yrs to elderly, especially those who may benefit from medication management combined with supportive therapeutic interventions. My goal is to help patients achieve measurable progress, build emotional resilience, and maintain long-term mental and behavioral stability. I am recognized for my patient-centered approach, trauma-informed care, and strong commitment to advocacy and holistic well-being. Many individuals struggle with self-diagnosis and self-treatment, often relying on inaccurate or incomplete information. This can delay proper care and worsen symptoms. My role is to provide clear, professional guidance grounded in clinical expertise, ensuring accurate diagnoses, effective treatment options, and support tailored to each individual

Dr Taffy takes time to listen and is personable. She always has gone above and beyond. Longest time seeing the same psychiatrist for me.. and Never thought about switching since I’ve found her!
I cannot recommend Dr.Tafie enough! I was struggling with my depression and anxiety, and she was the first to really take the time to listen to my entire history. Dr.Tafie is incredibly knowledgeable and explained my treatment options in a way that was easy to understand, making sure I was comfortable with the plan. She truly treats you like a partner in your health. If you are looking for a compassionate and brilliant physician, this is the one.

This doctor really listened to me and shared real experiences to truly show she understood the things I was going through. Very calm and friendly demeanor, I immediately felt at ease from our greeting when starting the video. I was seen right away on a Saturday, in desperation and feeling really low, and I can honestly say that she saved me.

I scheduled my appointment and after receiving confirmation of my appointment I completed all the paperwork and even signed up for texts. I joined the waiting room but no one showed up. No one notified me of any issue and I received a text at the time of the appointment saying to join the waiting room and that my appointment was starting so I continued to wait. After 15-20 minutes I finally found a phone number for her office and I called. She picked up and said she was busy and she would have to cancel on me. She said she would email me to reschedule after business hours /at end of day. She didn’t apologize for not showing up or for failing to call me and notify me so I wasn’t waiting/so I could have attempted to book an appointment elsewhere. Additionally, she never emailed me at the end of the day. Very disappointed, truly had a bad experience and would not recommend.

Prior to this appointment, I filled out paperwork twice. Once for Zocdoc and again for the dr office.I waited for about 15 minutes before the appointment started. Once the dr got on the phone, she was clicking around for 20 minutes trying to set up a video chat on a different platform other than zoom, that took another 20 minutes. Once the dr and I got on the same video chat, she began to ask me the same questions I already answered prior to the appointment. I informed her I had already provided her office with these answers prior to my appointment. She then reads off the information I provided and continues to ask me these same questions. I ended the visit because I didn’t understand why I needed to provide her with information that was already provided and she had access to. She called from her office phone multiple times and not only that, she contacted my emergency contact multiple times as well. I’m not sure what is going on but I didn’t feel that was totally inappropriate

Very sweet and concerning made sure I was okay.

I know she’s a working mom and she does have a good amt of patients and I definitely realize that she’s not a therapist but certain things like knowing what happened at my last appointment and today especially I felt like a new patient and despite minor up to severe/even dangerous events occurred and she has no solutions or suggestions it’s all just agreeing with whatever I have decided to do and not recognizing my issues being set off. Not recognizing that tapering I was on for two meds (one to come off and one to start on)was not going well and nothing was done so I stopped the tapering for both and so she agreed. I’m just really struggling and I’m feeling really bad and especially low today but I’m just kinda worried that I’m not gonna get the help that I really really need right now, especially since physically I’ve become more disabled and more depressed and anxious and angry and I’m feeling alone in my whole quest to get mentally stable but I’m feeling really alone.

Wonderful doctor! I highly recommend her!
Verified patientVideo visit
So happy to have found her! A diamond in the rough and I have been looking for a doctor who will actually HELP ME! And she listens, is calming and thoughtful. She also doesn’t judge my past or my current situation bc I am severely disabled and have multiple chronic conditions both physically and mentally and emotionally. She was very helpful in guiding me through my treatment and helping me with medication management and JUST LISTENING. She didn’t address my problems with a certain medication and she didn’t explain certain aspects of my problems that are being exacerbated by my meds. Patients-doing your own research so you know how meds are working for & against you. Knowing side affects &contraindications are important to be aware of when talking to your psychiatrist &getting your doctor to work together with other doctors treating you is immensely beneficial as well and imo it’s a must have for me. I highly recommend her and I’ve already booked my next session with her. 5 Stars!!??
