Joshua Ruiz is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, evidence-based care through a combination of medication management and supportive psychotherapy. He takes a patient-centered approach to treatment, emphasizing collaboration, trust, and individualized care.
Joshua earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nova Southeastern University through the Nurse Scholars Program in partnership with Baptist Hospital. He later earned his Master of Science in Nursing from St. Thomas University, specializing in psychiatric mental health care.
Before transitioning into psychiatry, Joshua worked as a Registered Nurse in cardiac step-down and endoscopy settings, caring for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. His diverse nursing background has helped shape a holistic and empathetic approach to mental health treatment.
As a member of South Florida Psychiatry Group, Joshua is committed to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their concerns and participating in their treatment. His clinical interests include anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, substance use, and medication management.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Joshua is passionate about serving diverse communities and improving access to quality mental health care. Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys exercise, jiu-jitsu, and spending time with his wife and family.
