Getting to know Joshua Woodland

***ATTENTION PATIENTS LIVING IN AZ, WA, and WY - I am currently unable to prescribe controlled substances (Adderall, Xanax, etc.) in these three states.*** I was drawn to the mental health field because of my own personal struggle with OCD earlier in my life. I understand the weight of a mental health battle. I can vividly remember the constant feeling of wanting peace and a quieter mind-to feel like myself again. As my friend described it, I was "sick and tired of being sick and tired." Having been anti-medication for years, I reached a point where I knew I needed to give it a real shot. And it changed my life forever. The overwhelming feelings started to feel bearable. The anxiety quieted. My hope returned. For years, I pushed against a treatment path that ended up restoring my life. Medication allowed me to stop living life in my head and be present for the people and moments I value most. I hold a Master's degree in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Anderson University and an Associate's degree from Utah Valley University. I find great joy in helping my clients find this same mental clarity and start enjoying life the way it is intended to be enjoyed.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm laid back. I'd say my superpower is connecting with people, making them feel comfortable. I enjoy genuine human connection through simple, meaningful conversation. In addition to medication, I will work with you in exploring your lifestyle and habits, and together, identify appropriate changes you would like to make that will unlock your ultimate potential.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the initial evaluation, we wilI talk about your current struggles, past psychiatric and medical history, lifestyle, and your preferences for treatment. We will work together on a medication plan that you are comfortable with. Follow up visits are generally shorter 15-30 minute visits where we will assess how treatment is going, and if we need to make any tweaks as needed.

  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

I will confirm your insurance benefits prior to your appointment so that there is complete transparency in the cost of each visit. We require a payment method on file, as payments are processed at the time of the visit. Sliding scale is available for cash payers, and I am happy to work with you on payment plan options to ease the burden.

Tried to make an appointment on two different occasions with two different doctors at this facility and both times they couldn’t keep their appointments. Pretty discouraging considering it’s my first time ever trying to seek this kind of care.

My provider went above and beyond to address all of my needs and really explained to me alot of things I was unsure about. Put my mind to ease.

He was very knowledgeable, gave me important information I did not even consider before, gave me a thorough explanation of what I was seeking treatment for as well as the treatment options and worked with me to create a care plan that worked for me given my conditions and my goals.

It took a lot of convincing to myself that I needed mental help, and even more convincing needed when picking a doctor. I'm so glad I chose him and will definitely recommend to anyone that needs help like I did!

Dr. Woodland has been amazing in helping me be able to manage my day to day again. Over the summer my anxiety went through the roof and caused me to become extremely irritable, through lifestyle and medication management we’ve been able to reduce that to where I can control my emotions and feel more like myself again.
Verified patientVideo visit
Josh was attentive, and listened to my needs well. He made sure that I was heard and helped come up with a game plan to tackle my issues. He was respectful, kind, and overall amazing.
Verified patientVideo visit
Josh is very personable and kind. Related to my issues with his own and made me feel heard. My favorite part was instead of just prescribing lots of meds he listened to my needs and we are staying with the meds I’m on now and just upping them. Very very happy and will continue to see him if I can!

This was my first appointment and it went very well! I have a bit of trouble talking with people and tend to stutter, repeat, over explain things, or stumble over my words. He was very patient and listened respectfully, and I felt like my needs were taken seriously. It puts me at ease knowing I’m talking to someone who has gone through similar things, and can actually relate to me in some form or another.

Great first meeting with Josh — I would definitely recommend, and look forward to working with him and his continued advice. More personable than a lot of my other doctors have been.

Josh Woodland, NP was incredibly helpful I’ve been having a really rough time in the last few months with my mental health, anxiety, irritability and adhd. I’m so grateful that he had a quick appointment available for me, the pre-appointment questionnaire was lengthy but necessary and I definitely appreciated that he went through every point on it throughout our appointment. Even after two days it’s really nice to slowly start feeling like myself again

NP Woodland provides compassionate, empathic, and thoughtful care for his patients. His professionalism, clinical expertise, and down-to-earth bedside manner distinguish him from other providers within the mental health specialty. He provides a safe and warm atmosphere for patients to explore their concerns and works collaboratively, as a team, with his patients to refine and optimize their treatment plans. I would wholeheartedly recommend NP Woodland to other members of the community who are seeking to establish care with a wise, caring, and considerate provider.

Helped my daughter struggling with a new bipolar diagnosis. He explained bipolar in a very understandable way, and helped us to realize that it is totally treatable. So far her meds are working and we’re so happy for her!
I’ve been coming here for a little over 3 years! CBT therapy did wonders for my depression. I’ve enjoyed working with Josh. I’m more happy, and at peace with myself than I’ve been my whole life. Therapy has truly saved my life! Grateful to Josh for helping me navigate this journey!
Josh is the best provider I've ever had! He doesn't have a "one size fits all" approach. He really makes sure my care is unique to me.
I had crippling anxiety, and I had tried many different meds in the past. The current medication Josh has me on is the first thing that has ever worked, and I feel like I have my life back.
He is genuine. He doesn't treat you like a guinea pig with medication. I finally feel like my meds are doing something for me mentally.
Expert in OCD. He knows his stuff.
