“I’ve seen several different providers for my mental health issues over the years, and i’ve never felt seen or heard until Joy. She asked questions I’ve never been asked before to get a better understanding at the underlying issue - not just what was presenting in the moment. Very highly recommend. ”

Getting to know Joy Williams

With over nine years of experience in the mental health field, I’m passionate about supporting individuals through their journey toward healing and stability. I have a special interest in working with clients navigating both substance use and mental health challenges. As someone who has also faced personal struggles, I understand that mental illness doesn’t discriminate—it can impact anyone, including providers like myself. I approach every client with empathy, honesty, and humility, knowing that healing is a shared and deeply human experience. My approach to care recognizes that recovery is not a linear journey but one that requires honesty and accountability. I also believe that we must be healthy ourselves in order to truly support others. As a provider, I am here to offer accountability while empowering you to stay motivated and continue moving forward. Your mental health care will always be approached holistically, addressing all aspects of your well-being. In our sessions, you can expect to gain greater self-awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, along with practical tools and strategies to manage mental health symptoms and substance use challenges. Together, we’ll build accountability and motivation to support your recovery journey, while developing coping skills to handle stress, triggers, and setbacks. You will have a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore your experiences and emotions, and we will work collaboratively to ensure your goals and values guide your care. We will also talk about medication management—you lead the way as I get to know you better. My approach focuses on your holistic well-being, addressing your mental, emotional, and physical health.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide a safe and judgment-free space where you can talk openly about your struggles, whether they involve mental health, substance use, or both. My approach is empathetic, collaborative, and focused on helping you reach your goals. In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know your full story, your symptoms, history, and what you hope to achieve. From there, I’ll create a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, therapy strategies, and connections to other helpful resources. I believe in honesty, clear communication, and empowering you to take an active role in your recovery. You can expect me to listen closely, explain your options in plain language, and check in regularly to see how things are going.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we begin working together, I start by creating a comfortable and open space for you to share your story. In our first session, I’ll gather information about your symptoms, history, lifestyle, and goals so I can fully understand your needs. Next, I’ll work with you to create a personalized treatment plan. This may include medication management, therapy techniques, and referrals to additional resources when needed. If you are seeking support for substance use, I can also provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) options such as Suboxone, Brixadi, or Vivitrol. Our follow-up sessions focus on tracking your progress, making adjustments as needed, and helping you develop practical tools for your mental health and overall well-being. I believe in a collaborative approach, so your feedback is always an important part of the process.

Joy is truly a Godsend! She actually does Care about my individual concerns, and is helping guide me through my journey to wellness. Joy’s knowledge of treatment has surpassed any other mental healthcare personnel. Stop scrolling now, you’ve found The Best in Joy Williams!
She’s very kind but also firm, which I really appreciate. She doesn’t play around when it comes to controlled substances. She’s thorough and will do drug testing when appropriate. Her ADHD assessment was extremely detailed, and I liked that she was honest about the results. If she wasn’t completely sure about something, she said so and followed up later. My first appointment was about 75 minutes, and my follow ups are 30 minutes. The sessions flow really well and never feel rushed. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients and isn’t doing this just for the money. I also love that I can text her through the client portal and she responds quickly. She takes a lot of time explaining medications, including all the possible side effects, and she makes sure you’re informed. She also connects you with resources. I was referred to a long term therapist so my care could continue.
Joy listened, we had a good talk, I learned somethings and now here we are with another appt booked! I believe she can help me.

Joy is amazing!! She listened to my concerns, made me truly feel as though she wanted the best for me and had my back! Would recommend!!
This was easily the best first appointment i’ve ever had with a provider. I really enjoyed her therapeutic approach to psychiatry and appreciated the time she took to get to know and understand me and my situation. I loved how she made it a point to collaborate on an action plan and ensured that I understood and felt comfortable throughout the process. My mind is at ease and I am looking forward to our future appointments. ??

I felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders for the first time in a long time someone heard me and has my best interest at heart. She saw me. I’ve worked with her for nearly two years, and she is an excellent psychiatric nurse practitioner. She consistently demonstrates professionalism, dedication, and a true passion for client care. She goes above and beyond to serve those in need and is highly committed to her work.
I feel very comfortable with Dr. Joy Williams. She is very genuine, kind, interested, and focused on what I have to say. She has excellent advice and “homework”, which is something that really helps me personally. I enjoy our talks, and I feel that she honestly wants the best for me and my life. I am very grateful that I met this doctor and that I have this opportunity to have her help and guidance. I highly recommend Dr. Joy Williams for treatment. I have experienced doctors that I felt wanted my money more than my best interest in the past, and she is not like that at all. She really does care.
Making the appointment was fast and easy. (I was able to book a same day appointment). Joy is easy to talk to, provides very insightful feedback and advice, and is very supportive. Definitely recommend!

I fully recommend her to any needing help with mental illness and substance abuse. She also ordered my medication while i was on the call with her, I need not have to wait to receive my medications.
Joy has been great to work with she listened to all of my concerns and answered any questions that I may have had. She cared about my predicament and provided a compassionate outlook that I haven't experienced anywhere else.
Joy was incredibly understanding, patient, and truly listens without judgment. From the moment I met her, I felt like she genuinely cared about helping me and was willing to go above and beyond to support my needs. She takes the time to explain things clearly, offers thoughtful guidance, and makes sure I feel heard and understood.
