Dr. Fisher helped me, over the course of two years, came to know myself better. After my time with her, I understand my own behaviour in a new light. She was empathetic and encouraging, firm, honest, and attentive. In the safe space she forged with me, I was able to address my trauma and addiction under her care. I am now 18 months sober. She has helped me to get on a steady path towards self acceptance and healthy adulthood. Dr. Fisher has well earned my deep and lasting gratitude.
I very much enjoyed my visit. Dr. Fisher made me feel extremely comfortable and relaxed welcoming me to discuss whatever was on my mind more freely. I would definitely recommend her and hope to see her more.

More about Dr. Julia Fisher, PhD

Making that first call to a therapist takes real courage, but the rewards can be profound. In an environment of safety and collaboration, my clients gain deepened self-knowledge, feel understood, and begin to resolve the difficulties and symptoms that brought them into therapy. I provide psychotherapy to adolescents and adults, helping to improve the quality of their lives by working interactively, and pulling from diverse therapeutic approaches. I specialize in the treatment of unresolved emotional injuries from childhood, post traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and treat substance use both individually as well as in Seeking Safety groups. My goal is to help clients feel more in control of their lives through cultivating self-awareness, replacing limiting habitual ways of coping, such as addictions, disordered eating, or self-destructive behaviors, with healthier strategies. Together we explore and identify the underlying thoughts and emotions that drive these behaviors while working at your pace. My office provides a comfortable atmosphere conducive to therapeutic success. I have daytime and evening hours, offer a sliding scale, accept out-of-network benefits, and am an Aetna provider. Skype sessions are offered when appropriate. Nearby trains: N, R, Q, B, D, F, 6, and a ten-minute walk from the 1, 2, 3.
