“I work in a really high-pressure job and kept putting off therapy because I genuinely didn't have time to explain myself or my schedule to someone who wouldn't get it. Julia has always been accomodating of my schedule, understanding of what I can and can't change about my work situation and starting therapy after quitting for a few years was the best decision I've made for myself in a long time.”

Getting to know Julia Gueron

The provider is an AMFT and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Julia Gueron, AMFT If you're reading this, you've probably been scrolling through profiles trying to figure out who feels like the right fit. It's a good sign that you're being thoughtful about it! I'm Julia, a psychodynamic therapist based in Los Angeles. I work with adults and couples who are navigating burnout, life transitions, grief, relationship struggles, and that hard-to-name feeling that something is off. A lot of my clients are high-functioning professionals who have been pushing through for a long time, but they're also exhausted, stuck in patterns they can't seem to break, or quietly carrying something they haven't had space to process. Maybe it's a breakup, a career shift, a loss, or the weight of family expectations that never quite fit. As a woman of color and second-generation immigrant, I understand what it means to hold multiple identities and the pressure that comes with that. I'm also a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Specialist, so I bring an autism-informed lens to how I think about masking, sensory experiences, and the ways people learn to adapt. I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions, with flexible scheduling that includes evenings and weekends.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, direct, and curious. I'll listen closely, ask questions, and help you notice connections between what's happening now and what's been building for a while. I practice psychodynamic therapy. Rather than focusing only on "fixing" what's wrong, we work together to understand the patterns driving your behavior, where they started, and what they've been protecting you from. I also draw from attachment-based, existential, and trauma-focused approaches depending on what fits. I believe therapy should feel collaborative. You won't feel judged here, though you if you feel challenged, that means we're doing good work. I work with individuals, families and couples, and I especially connect with clients navigating burnout, imposter syndrome, grief, relationship issues, and major life transitions. If you're not sure therapy is for you, or you've tried it before and it didn't click, I'd still encourage you to reach out. Sometimes it's about finding the right match.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We'll start with an initial session where I get to know you, what's bringing you in, what you've tried before, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. From there, we typically meet weekly. Consistency matters in this kind of work because we're building a relationship, and that relationship is one of the main tools we use. Over time, we'll start to see themes and patterns together. You might notice that the way you handle conflict at work mirrors something from your family of origin, or that the anxiety you feel before a big decision has roots you hadn't considered. For couples, sessions focus on understanding the dynamic between you: how you communicate, where you get stuck, and what each person needs to feel safe and heard. I also provide superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. I'm happy to walk you through that process. My goal is to create a space where you can be honest, explore freely, and ultimately feel more like yourself.
